Some shocking decisions in the Merseyside derby. Shame really because it was an outstanding game of football and Everton played their part. Pickford's challenge was almost an assault and if VAR isn;t going to do something about that then the game is well and truly ruined.

Based on this game, David coote should never be allowed to referee again, on the pitch or otherwise. Absolutely shocking decisions by him, even with the benefit of countless replays and close ups. I can forgive the on pitch officials, as they only saw them in real time, once, but coote has no excuses. I dare say even Trevor kettle would have got those decisions correct!

Apparently the PL are saying, as regards the potential leg breaker, that the whistle had gone. But if he'd punched him in the face that wouldn't have mattered!

It was indeed a pulsating game and a real shame that VD got that bad injury. But as everyone says the officials were poor and the Pickford assault wasn't even a difficult decision to make. It matters not that the whistle had gone (if it had) because you can get sent off after the final whistle in the tunnel so that's a red herring. A reckless, dangerous tackle like that was completely unacceptable. And we all know the offside rules are now ruining the game week after week. The technology isn't good enough to detect the tiniest margins anyway and any doubt should be given to the forward player.

Liverpool will not cope well without VD. They are vulnerable in the air at the back without him and lack experience there. It's a real shame. But more ridiculously poor officiating on and off the pitch.

The thing with assistants leaving their flag down and letting play go on after a very clear and obvious offside is the potential for serious injuries because defenders make last-ditch tackles.

Rashford and Darlow challenged for a ball last night when neither of them needed to do so.

He's done the Leeds v Wolves game tonight.  Astonishing when you see what he dished out yellow cards for compared to what he thinks wasn't worth a card of any colour for Pickford.

Liverpool were superb yesterday against a dangerous and in-form Leicester side. Could and should have been 5 or 6. To think they were without Van Dijk, Gomez, Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Salah too...

Curtis Jones will become a superb football. Another great English talent to have to go alongside the likes of Foden and Grealish in the creative department for our national side.
