Evening All, long time reader, first time contributor. Want to say a big thank you firstly to all of you lot for keeping me informed, entertained and something resembling sane regarding all things Val

If we get locked down again next week then we should get promoted with 138 points.

Superb team performance by Vale against a very capable team, don't anticipate many teams will go to St james Park and win this season.

Great to see Manny back and playing well, hope he can stay fit.

The transformation of Port Vale FC since  the arrival of John Askey  and The Shanahan's is truly remarkable and long may it continue.

Very good away performance. Solid performance from everyone with a little bit of stardust from Conlon.

Its difficult not to get too carried out but we really do look the business this year.

Superb win against a good side! Rode our luck in the 2nd half a bit but that's always going to be the case against the better teams in the league. I think Mills is a decent player but it's no coincidence that their biggest two chances of the second half came from crosses on his side of the pitch. I'll be glad to see Gibbons back as I think he's a better defender.

Fitzpatrick has done alright and I don't begrudge him a place in the squad, but he and Mills are definitely our weak links to an extent. If only we could get Mitch Clark back!

I thought Mills easily had his best game for Vale today although he did have a bit of a shocker with a drop ball

Was it a foul by Conlon before the second goal? I felt it was six of one, half a dozen of the other. Tom was being fouled at first and did a bit of fouling back.

A couple of little pieces of sharpness in midfield made the difference, Manny getting wrong side of their man to win the free kick and Conlon getting past his man to send Dave away for the second goal.

I was surprised he didn't give it, the ref started giving them everything after an hour or so.

Though I've seen a few comments from their fans about a handball penalty, hope they're not referring to the one that bounced up and hit Smith's hand, never in a million years a pen. My steam cut out for a few mins so i may have missed another shout though.

Conlon was excellent, Rodney is looking like an unreal signing, Brown outstanding as per usual.

<ovf censored> it. I think we're going up.

What a result. Listening to it on BBC Radio Devon, who provided excellent balanced commentary where they were very complimentary about us, describing us as a very good side who will be in the mix.

Great win and performance. those players worked extremely hard for 95 minutes. Tom Conlon was man of the match for me. He never stopped, scored a great goal and laid a super ball for Rodney to put him clear and score the 2nd.

One thing I'm certain of is that the ref last Tuesday would have given it against us. They were both holding each other so they can't argue that much

I was surprised he didn't give it, the ref started giving them everything after an hour or so.

Conlon's going to end up getting drug tested if he carries on as he has, absolutely mad for it from the first whistle. He's started this season with the unlimited energy we see from Worrall. Really impressive considering the 5 months off.

Interesting take from the co-commentator on Radio Devon... we’re a tall, physical side but do not have many weaknesses in the team, with a very good goalkeeper, two solid stoppers in Smith and Legge, industrious midfield and pace up front.

None of Fitzpatrick, Joyce, Conlon, Worrall or Cullen can be considered anything close to tall! (of those that started today)
