Match Thread : Exeter City v Port Vale

What a result that is and we can get better and better, plus the strength in depth we've got is superb. We can go with pace upfront or when pope comes back he can give us a physical presence and then bring the pace on after an hour or so we've got so many options it's looking good already

Evening All, long time reader, first time contributor. Want to say a big thank you firstly to all of you lot for keeping me informed, entertained and something resembling sane regarding all things Val

If we get locked down again next week then we should get promoted with 138 points.

Really? I'm thinking he'll be on the bench for much of the season.

I know!

Surprised me too 😊

I go along with almost everything that has been said about Vale's performances so far in the League but I have noticed that very occasionally the opposition wing-men are penetrating the defence and getting behind our fullbacks - leaving our centre-halves or Scott Brown to rescue them. So just tighten up a little chaps but otherwise playing very well. Bob Norbury.

The gospel according to St John ! 20 clean sheets = promotion. 18 to ho then !

I was thinking of that philosophy yesterday.

Both league games have been very enjoyable.  Long may it continue.

I agree that the strength in depth that we have this year could prove a big difference.  In previous years you only had to lose a couple of players from the 1st 11 and the cracks would begin to show.  The side that we fielded in the league cup looked almost as strong as the team that played yesterday.
