Majestic performance  - controlled the game from start to finish with one of the hardest working displays I've seen for a long time. The players must be whacked and all credit to JA for resting the first team ahead of this game. All rounded off with two great goals and an astonishing save from Brown in the last five minutes.

Looking at the side, we must have the best goalkeeper in L2, the best central defensive pairing and in Cullen and Devante two players that are going to give us a real edge.

Well done, JA and the players for sending a strong message to the rest of L2 that we are going to do what we were prevented from doing last season by the early closure. C'mon, Vale - this has all the signs of being great season!

Superb win against a good side! Rode our luck in the 2nd half a bit but that's always going to be the case against the better teams in the league. I think Mills is a decent player but it's no coincidence that their biggest two chances of the second half came from crosses on his side of the pitch. I'll be glad to see Gibbons back as I think he's a better defender.

Fitzpatrick has done alright and I don't begrudge him a place in the squad, but he and Mills are definitely our weak links to an extent. If only we could get Mitch Clark back!

When the fixtures came out I had a feeling that one of our biggest games of the season had come round very early.

Delighted to get three points at a place where we traditionally struggle. Their commentators were talking about us as genuine promotion contenders.

Fantastic. I was hoping for a draw but the vale proved they can beat anyone on their day. Everyone put a shift in today , especially the back four who battled and won pretty much every header. Conlon MOTM for me, I really think this is his season to stand out.

Brown as well looks commanding as ever and that save was unreal.

Just a side note , Bolton have spent ridiculous money again and have signed around eighteen players and have lost every game so far.

We have no one to fear this season and can really challenge for a top six place . Buzzing to get back to Vale Park.

Super f####ing Vale away

Away from home I'd give the nod to Rodney as our lone forward. Nothing against Cullen, he links the play well at times, but Rodney gives us such a physical presence. It will also allow us to play one of McKirdy or Amoo, with Worrall on the other side. Montano for me is better as an attacking left-back.

Was it a foul by Conlon before the second goal? I felt it was six of one, half a dozen of the other. Tom was being fouled at first and did a bit of fouling back.

A couple of little pieces of sharpness in midfield made the difference, Manny getting wrong side of their man to win the free kick and Conlon getting past his man to send Dave away for the second goal.
