Thank god it was our turn to steal a goal at the end.

I'll happily take a scrappy 2 1 win away , especially against an alright side like scunthorpe.

The Porthill Pirlo was MOTM for me. Didn't stop the whole game. And for me a future captain when Legge/pope retire

So good to have football back. Bring on next Crawley!

Dunner forget Tranmere on Tuesdee!

Unusual to win a game at Scunthorpe!

Missed most of the first half and had an IT problem and missed 5 to 10 minutes of the second.

Thought both Burgess and Cullen from the existing players looked a little below their best.

Of the new players

Fitzpatrick was steady

Mills looked good in parts but defending for the goal was questionable and for the freekick right on the edge of the area

Rodney looked a handful on the left and won a lot of headers when defending

Whitehead looked ok

Robinson did what was needed - very much a poachers goal

Vale win in League Cup shock.

Well done lads - listening to the commentary it sounded like we were under the cosh for a while but we came good. I'll take that all season.

Not under the cosh to be honest.  They had a few brief spells of pressure that’s all.  It was a game of few chances, the difference was that we took ours.

Burgess couldn’t impose himself on the game today, whilst Cullen lacked service.

Same kind of goal he scored against forrest. Obviously being told to follow balls in and be in the right place right time. Good to have a player like that

Maybe a decent striker is in the right place at the right time without having to be told.

A few things today showed:

- the players all all rusty, even Worrall was playing some bizarrely sloppy passes. That will fade over the next few games.

- Eisa was the best player on the pitch.

- Conlon a close second, he was brilliant first half.

- Alex Gillead has bested the vale in a few games recently, today he was kept very quiet... Fitzpatrick, despite a few lapses (see point one) must have been doing something right.

- When Rodney clicks, he will be a fantastic player!

- Theo did what we brought him in to do. Nice for him to get off the mark.

- that’s an away win at Scunthorpe... in the league cup!

- When we clicked and passed it around we looked better than them.

Perfect, no. Glimpses of improvement, absolutely.
