Im glad there is a bunch of middle aged white men here to tell a young black woman what she can be offended by.

As an old guy I don't care what she is offended by. I am sùrprised at m&s. If the price offends me will they reduce it? If I'm offended by the amount of power used for electric doors will they turn them off? If the use of geletine in products offends me will they stop using it (didn't work well when tried).

She has the right to say it.

I have the right to laugh at it.

M&S have the right to do something about it before everyone and their dog jumps on the bandwagon of outrage.

How long will it be before someone sees red and white stripes representing the blood on white skinned colonialist hero's ....and is racist?

You won’t be able to say white soon

Give it time.

I don't know what planet Professor Brian Cox is on but is latest tweet says "I'm sick of this 'British People' nonsense,it's inflammatory and divisive. The phrase should be banned from political discourse."

So there you go.Things Can Only Get Better?

So there you go.Things Can Only Get Better?

And when asked if he meant he thought you should be allowed to say ‘British people’ he answered:

“Don’t be so silly. Of course, but what I am arguing is that saying ‘Policy X is the will of the British People’ implies that if you disagree with policy X then you are not one of the British people. It’s a well worn path to some very dark places in history.”

He followed up his original tweet with:

“Some are (deliberately?) misunderstanding this. The point is that invoking ‘the will of the people’ or derivatives in promoting policy is a well-rehearsed propaganda technique and has no place in our democratic dialogue. Once elected, Government must seek to unify, not to divide.”

“Furthermore, governments can be radical / reforming without using division as a governing technique. This government has a large majority and need not apologise for its policy choices; it was elected on a manifesto. But it should calibrate its language much more responsibly.”

So he was not arguing not to use it, but they way it is used by politicians. But don’t let any subtlety or context get in the way. Obviously this means we can longer say the word white or black anymore. I half expect an ‘oi cox..nooooo’ from you.

Is it only people born in England who are British?
