Just when we get owners who seem to understand running a football club, and income generation the rest of them vote for a salary cap.

 

I suppose the upside is we also seem to have a relatively astute manager who doesn't go splashing the cash on big name players.

 

I don't know whether this will be good or bad for us to be honest.

Salford have got 1 year to get promoted whilst all their players only count towards the salary cap to the extent of about 60ish grand.

If they don't, 10 of their 19 players are out of contract and will have to be renewed/replaced at full value.

I think there's inevitably going to be growing pains in the first few years of such a seismic change.

It's a start to addressing the inherent issues of the English game. Maybe over time it will be refined and tweaked.

I'm in two minds, clearly a Bury situation should not happen again.

But how can it be right that say Bradford can only spend the same on wages as Morecambe ? 

I'm all for a level playing field but if you get bigger crowds or reasonable ones like ourselves then I don't agree with the limit being the same as Macc, Harrogate and Crawley
