Transfer Rumours Pre-Season

If it is Maynard great, a few of us did get excited thinking he would be unveiled on Friday with the kit. However if he doesn't it is amazing still we have gone in for such a striker and shows good signs and potential for the future. The club has grown immensely over the past year.

What ever happens I trust Askey and the team. We'll get the player we need.

I'd be pretty narked if I was a striker we'd had on trial when the plan was to sign A N Other all along.

Why???

Surely you can see the difference between having a player on trial, to assess his skill / fitness and intelligence levels, but signing a tried, tested proven and experienced player? Happens all the time!

Devante would be a great signing at this level but not sure he would drop. Wants to stay local to Manchester though. He's a friend of a friend.

Manchester is only an hour away.

Sorry, was saying this as a positive for why he might be keen

I would honestly be happier with Hallum Hope than Maynard.

There is a real lack of available strikers on a free transfer right now, either the striker is going to be a bit left field or we'll be signing someone currently under contract.

I don't think Hope is an out and out striker though.

The majority of pro footballers are hard wired to think money, that is why some are prepared to go non league, what division they are in doesn't really come into it, thats why some lads are prepared to play in Premier League U23 sides, they look at it as a short career and you make hay while you can.

an interesting theory, just think how barrow and harrogate will cope, i believe harrogate have got to spend a fortune replacing their 3g pitch + spending on new players. thank goodness for league status and a 70 year old grass on soil pitch.:juggle:

I can't see the issue with the 3g pitch in all fairness.
