Transfer Rumours Pre-Season

Recommended Posts

Askey hinted there were players we were interested in but out of our wage bracket a few weeks ago. He then talked about being patient as the season gets nearer when players begin to drop their demands and become more realistic.

If he's local and he can see we are on an upward curve that's worth a few more quid than travelling hundreds of miles and/or moving away from the area. But obviously wages dictate a lot, as with Pope when he went to Bury. So we really can't blame a player in demand for taking his time and weighing up his options.

We'll all have to be patient. Maybe there is some truth in the Hope rumour because he didn't play a lot for Swindon and is another Manchester boy.

Surely not too long to find out. Only a couple of friendlies left.

Nothing wrong with getting just a little carried away at the moment,  as long as we all remember that it's The Vale we're talking about. But then again this is the New Vale and it feels amazing,  even

I honestly despair with some Vale fans... Is it bred into our DNA that we have to seek out negativity???? As I'm typing this, we've have just launched the nicest football strip I can remember, desig

As I'm typing this, we've have just launched the nicest football strip I can remember, designed by an international superstar, we are linked with a top name striker and everything should be positive.

The club and its directors are responsible for this positivity. They also try hard to engage with fans via social media to keep us updated, something we all cried out for in the past.

At the VERY worst, there has been crossed wires over a tweet Martin sent out late last night.

All this talk of 'he's played us like a fiddle' if quiet frankly pathetic.
What has he got to gain by 'misleading' fans?

We are all disappointed that Maynard has not been announced this evening, but let's start acting our age and stop looking for someone to blame.

Totally asking for trouble, being sensible!! Won't do at all!!

Maybe who knows but he said he was expecting an answer not that he was going to the club to sign. May all be agreed by phone to be completed Monday for instance when they will have the video done and the dotted line is signed.

Take the contract offers which we agreed and signed weeks later.

Either way looks like we are finally able to finally flex our muscles in terms of club size and compete financially at this level after Norman and V2001 whatever happens life feels much more positive around the club.

It’s about time we were big players at this level minimum.
I agree there. Vale are a big club for this league. We never should have been relegation fodder from lesgue one ket alone facing relegation battles in league two.

Carol and Kevin have worked wonders in a short space. Imagine what can be done in time.

It’s exciting times and maybe we just have to let the past go and enjoy this ride, tough as it may be.

Ground looks great, even little things like the new boards on the shop with iconic images and wording, like the Earle image etc.

18 months ago we thought we were done and likely to go bust (god imagine what had happened with Smurf during Covid) but we got what we wanted and it feels like we are really on the start of a great journey.

Maynard doesn’t sign then im confident we will go and get someone capable. We are not scraping the barrel these days.

They have also managed to get RW involved in the club again which is massive and would never have happened under Norm and Bratt in the way it has now

Completely done wonders for this club.

That is it. some amazing things have happened in a short space of time. Seeing Robbie around the club is great again. Nothing but credit where it is due to the new owners.

Little things go a long way. How many times in your life has someone given you a small gift, something perhaps not worth much at all in value, and yet it means a lot to you and is more important that things that cost hundreds of pounds? For me it's the same sort of thing when you see newly painted fences and walls at Vale Park. Or a sign replaced for something more modern or snazzy looking. These little touches can really enhance the look of a club, which can only help when you're showing potential signings around the place. I'd wager that we have one of the top few stadiums in the league. And on top of that people will only hear good things about the owners, Carol and Kevin. And in John Askey we have a very organised and calm manager that I think players will enjoy playing for. When you think about it, it's absolutely crazy how far we have done already in such a short space of time. It's just a shame that the world as a whole is in a pretty poor place right now and we can't all fully embrace it as we would like to. At least not yet.

They forget where we were under the last regime, everything that is happening at the Vale at the moment is 10 times better than anything that has gone before in recent years.
