So Sinclair noted and liked that David Tutonda was leaving Barnet and out of contract age 24 without a club could be a good shout said to be a very quick left back highly rated with a lot of potential.....but is Askey after a left back thought it was a striker and goalkeeper only....but getting Tutunda signed up on a free is a kinda canny Askey sort of move and all said and done for squad balance we cerainly could do with a dedicated specialist left back...Monty is a winger...Crooke is a centre back and Mills a right back.

I don't have anything to link him to us BA I just noticed Sinclair was one of the first to like the tweet. He may just know him from a previous club or he coached him somewhere? He's linked with Notts county a bit on their forum earlier in the week which I guess is why a number of their fans latched on to it.

If we are in for a left back we could do far worse though if Clark isn't available, one of the better ones in the conference last season I believe. More the attacking left wing back sort too

For me IF it is Maynard who we have been talking to then he is certainly dragging it out.... i want players who want to come to vale not ones who take weeks and weeks to play us off.... dont get me wrong would be cracking signing BUT surely it must be time to move on,we play proper football in a couple of weeks for goodness sake

I guess when you are aiming to sign players who can have a number of options and we are competing wage wise with others, it may take longer.

Carols Tweet back to tideswell about new “signage” today in a tease about the new shop is intriguing though....

Naughty Shanahan! Bet the fckers are going drop a press release at like 9pm just to banter us all off. Woudn't be unusual to stay late to get a deal done. Remember Lodey and his antique fax machine cocking up the signing of someone or other at 23:59.

Wasn’t it Hughes we missed out on in the August window and had to wait until January as it didn’t get through in time?

I honestly despair with some Vale fans...

Is it bred into our DNA that we have to seek out negativity????

As I'm typing this, we've have just launched the nicest football strip I can remember, designed by an international superstar, we are linked with a top name striker and everything should be positive.

The club and its directors are responsible for this positivity. They also try hard to engage with fans via social media to keep us updated, something we all cried out for in the past.

At the VERY worst, there has been crossed wires over a tweet Martin sent out late last night.

All this talk of 'he's played us like a fiddle' if quiet frankly pathetic.
What has he got to gain by 'misleading' fans?

We are all disappointed that Maynard has not been announced this evening, but let's start acting our age and stop looking for someone to blame.

So if say the signing of Maynard does come off and say Visser gets a deal as back up keeper is that it or is there room for one more perhaps as in that much needed left back signing and to also add a a quality left back like Tutonda on a free would conclude a very good window.

He was released by Barnett at the end of their campaign. No real evidence he's better than what we've got. It's looking less and less likely crowds will be back in October. Vale fans should be grateful for the club for backing the manager in the signings he said he wanted throughout the window. Fans move on quickly to the next player they want replacing. The manager made it clear which 5 positions he wanted to stregthen. He's been backed in that and it's pretty much as far as I expect it to go.

There comes a point to move on. We were talking to him when Bury came along a couple of years ago. The club can only dig as deep as the owner's resources allow as it's hard to see the club breaking even this season. I have a horrible feeling he is trying to tease out a higher offer. Both Holloway and Curle have spoken out about the dangers of signing players for less than they think they are worth and the risks of them becoming disruptive.

Shropshire valiant......just putting 3 and 3 together and making a potential  left back signing because it looks like any talk of Clark and Taylor on loan is probably a lost cause although after they have rotted in the reserves and are inevitably released they will be worth signing up in the future......however Tutonda on a free would be a canny bit of business and young Hurst is going to be a cracking left midfield back up to the excellent Conlon could be this seasons Burgess.

Looks like we may have signed Maynard after all. Especially with Carol’s twitter comments and now the sentinel article with Askey claiming that we are interested. Previously we had heard rumours of a big name striker, but with no substance. Now it’s suddenly mentioned by Tideswell, Carol and Askey himself in the Sentinel.

If a player is in demand like Maynard will be it takes time to get a deal done he's not desperate to sign and will be trying to get the best deal personally. This is where the revamped stadium, the gym and all the other improvements will play there part. If it does fall through Askey will have other targets and we now know that we are after a quality experienced and expensive striker who ever it may be

The sentinel article people will see as negative as suggests he has yet to sign but of course until the club announce it Askey can’t say when asked “yeah he’s in the bag” but he has now admitted we are in for him so shown his hand.
