So Sinclair noted and liked that David Tutonda was leaving Barnet and out of contract age 24 without a club could be a good shout said to be a very quick left back highly rated with a lot of potential.....but is Askey after a left back thought it was a striker and goalkeeper only....but getting Tutunda signed up on a free is a kinda canny Askey sort of move and all said and done for squad balance we cerainly could do with a dedicated specialist left back...Monty is a winger...Crooke is a centre back and Mills a right back.

It seems like a bit of anti climax in all honesty. I, like many other supporters believed that Martin Tideswell’s twitter antics were implying that Maynard would be signing today. I don’t believe his twitter comments were solely regarding the kit, there was definitely a Maynard link. Either Maynard has turned us down last minute or he has prolonged his decision. 

Maynard may still end up signing for us, but if he doesn’t then Tideswell looks like a fool and he has misled many fans. The joys of social media!

Have to agree with others, Tideswell had a nightmare here. Although for we all know Maynard has agreed the deal and like others have said it will get announced Monday hopefully. 

That's the problem with transfer rumours/Social Media it tends to hype everything up. Still it feels so much more exciting and interesting compared to three/four years ago when we were signing players like Shalaj and Mbamba

We don't know what time the player who's making the decision today is contacting the club. If it's positive and he wants to join us, then he's likely not going to drive over, sign immediately and make a promo video. I would think. Do all that tomorrow or whenever the appropriate offices are open to complete paperwork and announce when done. It would be silly to announce something before the ink has dried on the contract. If the player in question isn't coming, then Arthur will presumably give some indication in his next interview.

Maybe Tideswell thought he was signing today and was excited. Maybe he was excited about the new away kit. Maybe another team has come in offered him a deal. Whatever Martin Tideswell thought or whatever has happened lets just draw a line under it. Maynard hasn’t signed for anyone else either so let’s just see what happens. It’s nice to be linked with these sorts of players.......something which just wouldn't have happened a few seasons ago. We as fans have every right to feel excited at the moment as we have a pretty decent squad already. Let’s  be honest we are moving in the right direction whoever signs. It doesn’t seem that long ago since the pre seasons of Ribiero and Brown.  Looks a great away kit. Looking forward to getting mine with Maynard on the back. 🤞

It's not even a big deal, just people on here straight up claiming something that isn't true. I'm coming across like a right mad man on here tonight simply trying to prove I didn't misinterpret things.

I'm unaware of any major reason why we wouldn't get him and am confident it will happen. As of last week we had offered the best deal compared to another club. Like Jean says though, I don't like how long this is dragging on for. Nathan Smith level dragging out, this.

So if say the signing of Maynard does come off and say Visser gets a deal as back up keeper is that it or is there room for one more perhaps as in that much needed left back signing and to also add a a quality left back like Tutonda on a free would conclude a very good window.

For me IF it is Maynard who we have been talking to then he is certainly dragging it out.... i want players who want to come to vale not ones who take weeks and weeks to play us off.... dont get me wrong would be cracking signing BUT surely it must be time to move on,we play proper football in a couple of weeks for goodness sake

When people were saying that other clubs will beat our offers so that would be the end of that,thats why i commented  that people may be surprised how we can compete now financially with the bigger payers

Thought he’d sign today thanks to tideswell. Some need take the blinkers off if they think his tweet was in reference to the kit! 

Lovely kit far nicer than the home. But still slightly underwhelmed thanks to this blunder.

It would surely be good to be signed with enough time to join in training/friendlies too. Having said that, there's still plenty of time for that if he signs early next week but I wonder if Vale have a cut-off point where they withdraw things and go for plan B?

Good points about this dragging and could we have missed out on other targets like say Dennis for instance because with but weeks to go hopefully Askey has a couple of other targets that are still available if we are being played.
