Does anyone else think we were a bit hasty ditching Dior? Looked alright to me, did everything asked of him on loan. Were there attitude problems or something?

Angus and Quigley are a National League winning strike partnership so are clearly both good enough for mid table League Two. I guess Askey just felt he had better options to suit his team.

Claims on Twitter David Fitzpatrick trained with us yesterday. If true could just be the manager helping keep an ex player fit or maybe a potential signing. Still not convinced as we'd either need a forward or keeper 21 or younger.

Yeah he was there and played left back in the 11 v 11.

I can’t see it myself, as you say glee have other needs on the squad now we have the number and salary caps.

Coukd we’ll be just an old gaffer doing a favour for a player wanting to keep fit.

Fitzpatrick could be a decent addition, a specialist left back who could provide competition for Monty and allow Crooks to concentrate on his preferred position of center half.
I dont think he would cost the earth and room for him in the 24 man squad could be made when Trickett-Smith is loaned out.

I think we're close to the new limit on the number of over 21 aged players we're allowed and that's without the fourth striker/goalie we need so would we fill up another space with a LB? I'd think the other two positions are priority over a LB.

Can we also seal a loan deal for Trickett-Smith when non-league teams are not starting their season at the same time - surely they'd be hanging back from any deals for now?

Does the limit refer to how many are on the payroll or how many are registered in the squad to play? If we plan to loan a player out in October, could we choose not to register that player to free a space up?

I could be wrong, I often am, but I've got our squad number at 20, including Trickett-Smith.

1. Brown
2. Gibbo
3. Monty
4. Legge
5. Smith
6. Mills
7. Brisley
8. Crookes
9. Joyce
10. Manny
11. Conlon
12. Burgess
13. Whitehead
14. Wozza
15. Amoo
16. Rodney
17. Browne
18. Cullen
19. Pope
20. Trickett-Smith

Not included in the figure are Ryan Campbell-Gordon & Alex Hurst as both are under 21 so if my understanding is right, dont count towards the squad number/playing budget due to age.

So even with a reserve keeper and the much anticipated striker signing, we would still have room for 2 further signings and 3 if Trickett-Smith isn't named in the final 24 man squad.

My understanding is the squad can only have 22 players over 21, although in football if a player is 21 when the competition starts they are normally considered under 21. My guess would be Trickett-Smith's wages would count regardless of whether he is named in the 22. I believe you can have as many players who count as under 21 as you wish.

Like I said I could be wrong, but I thought it was a maximum of 24 players over 21.

Either way, I don't anticipate Trickett-Smith will be part of the squad when the season kicks off.

I'm a little unsure. The Sentinel Article the the owner said 22 plus players classed as U21.

The EFL website say 24 for league one clubs and I couldn't find anything specific on league two. The age cut off to be classed as under 21 is 20 or under on 1 July 2020. I'm not clear from the EFL website if under 21s are exempt from squad limits, they seem to imply they aren't,  only from the salary limits. It may be there are seperate and slightly different rules for both leagues.
