Askey has said he's "happy with Pope, Cullen and Rodney as the forwards, so it means we can be relaxed about getting a possible 4th in".
Makes me think that the 4th choice is going to be a development player/backup and not the 1st choice player everyone thought at first?

He’s after an experienced goal scorer , it of course may not come off

Yeah, I took that from it.

Slightly odd though, considering we were supposedly in talks with/making offer for an "exciting" secret potential signing (that many on here seemed to know about!) - if he was such a name/statement signing, then he would surely have been a starter?

I think plans change. I have no idea about Askey's plans for a 4th striker. I do know Rodney has come with a view to playing not being a 4th choice like Archer. Given Cullen is currently first choice and I can't see Pope being a happy 4th choice I have a feeling it may evolve that way. Unless you have a Salford budget a manager needs to be flexible. My guess is if Bradbury does ok he might look to strengthen elsewhere. There are a lot of good players still available, just not many centreforwards or leftbacks. Plenty of good midfielders,  centrehalves, wingers, specialist 10s and rightbacks from all 3 EFL leagues are still searching for work.

Next season the league will be a lot stronger than last season from the look of things. Salford, Bolton, Trammere, Cheltenham, FGR, Exeter all look to have strengthened and will be really threats at the top of the table. There's also always the risk that Mansfield get it right for once.

Of last years top 5 goal scorers, 2 have now left and one is banned for the first 6 games. Hopefully Cullen hits the ground running but I think we really need a plan B (or even A with Cullen as back up)

Obvious link to make - question would be can we afford his wages. My understanding is County had an option on him but have offered reduced terms. I'm sure Askey would love to sign him all things being equal. County may already have offered him more than we could afford. Complicated by Pope's suspension as he is our only traditional target man on the books.
