social distancing at vale park

Seating itself would be a logistical nightmare if any sort of social distancing is enforced as it'll mean lots of fans, most specifically ST holders, would have to agree not to sit in their prefered / "traditional" seat, possibly even moving into a different stand completely.  ST holders would have to be alloacted a new seat for the duration of any restrictions, or be issued a ticket on a match by match basis.   Obviously how the club decides which exact seat anyone sits in, or who they are adjacent too, as in family members or whoever is in someones "bubble" etc., is difficult to manage and could only really be done on an arbitary first come first served basis.  I think most fans would buy into this but the admin could be horrendous initially.

October opening of stadia

There is discussion in the Coronavirus topic too, but I have posted here.

Looks like test events will be run @ 40% capacity and see what happens then. Obviously teams are looking @ 12th September start, so that may be of concern.

A September 12th start would be possibly 4 league games and one League cup game by the time October comes.

That would mean 2 or 3 home games behind closed doors. Would some clubs still be in grave danger of going under if that came to fruition.

if the situation has eased by sept, wouldnt it be prudent for the gov and efl to allow lower league football  with limited crowds,  to keep the clubs operating  and see how it goes before a full return say october?

Maybe slightly more than that, as the 12th September start involves 11 midweek fixtures over the season, so you would assume that 1-2 of them would be in that first month or so? (seeing as Johnson mentioned mid-October as when spectators could be allowed back into grounds).

Would also probably encompass the first 2 rounds of the League Cup - although that should be scrapped next season (along with the EFL Trophy) - probably won't though because of sponsorship deals.

Good point that, yes I recall reading a lot more midweek games.

That in itself will be detrimental over the whole season to many clubs

Bolton at home or away for that matter Is a lot different on a Tuesday compared to a Saturday.

2500 upwards on a Saturday maybe

800 a night game

How far could the season be extended for EFL teams?

Can't see any reason it can't finish in the second week of June. Unprecedented I know but we are in strange times.

Mind you 22/23 is all to cock because of the December world cup.

League 2 may be allowed to finish later.

The Championship will need to finish by mid-May due to the Euros (which starts 11th June). Not sure if any League 1 players would be involved in the Euros?

Depends if the EFL want their 3 leagues all finishing at different times, and if so, how far apart?

Whatever happens and whenever, it will be a totally different experience. I spoke to a friend in the US, he works @ the Red Sox. They are discussing, reduced capacity,  temperature checks, no turnstiles, no bags allowed pre entrance. No food sales, no alcohol sales, no merchandise sales to avoid contact. Multiple sanitising stations and policing of toilets to restrict numbers. Also the wearing of masks. That was just a quick list he gave me.

It sounds lovely 😞

I can't see it being half the capacity but at Vale 5000-6000 fans could be done easily as long as all fans cooperate the club put an x on seats we can sit on you might not be able to sit in your normal seats for a while or even in your normal stand we will use the away end to spread fans out more
