The worst commentator, pundits etc are men. Merson, Keown. He ends every line with a question. McManaman fake laugh and generally acting ott. Suppose I am not keen on Sue Smith. But she is better than those who I have mentioned.

I turn it over when she’s on

I think that the best commentators who I respect are those who have played the sport at the highest level which with all due respect women commentators on men's matches HAVE NOT. Womens football is simply not the same so women commentators for women's matches fine.

Like John Motson and Clive Tyldesley?

I agree to an extent, but in terms of 'expert' punditry as opposed to commentators.

For instance, in regards to cricket, the women pundits will not have faced fast bowling of 90mph, or spin bowling at the quality of Warne or Muralitharan.

Similarly, surely most women pundits won't have experienced playing football at a comparable tempo/pace/level, or in front of capacity crowds ranging from 40,000 to 100,000, as some of the top men pundits will have done (although many of the male pundits probably haven't either........Lee Hendrie at Stoke!)

Neither would women referees... all adding to the build up of knowledge of the game and how to react and deal with the players.

Give me Rebecca Welch again over that absolute waste of space at the weekend any day.

As mentioned... some of the male pundits are useless and I have no problem with women pundits and don't think you need to have played the Men's game to commentate on it. Just look at all the fans on here who have strong opinions without playing the game.

I also dont buy the "They sound annoying and arent very good argument"... that comes with practice... watch James May's first episode of Top gear to see how far someone can come if they are given a chance.

BT had commentator and 2 pundits last night. Done that with Rangers in the Europa league too. Alex Rae started every line with Stephen. Does not need 2. In fact, Through watching sports bits on YouTube I have realised I prefer to hear just the crowd. (When they are in, Of course.).
