All Stoke had was effort. Their heads went when we scored and from then on in we pretty much controlled the game.

A couple of updates on videos...

I am driving to meet @Bedford Vale tomorrow (socially distancing of course) as he has some more videos which may feature in future Mondays. Thanks to him for getting in touch. 

And @Loggerheads Sage is kindly providing some more. Thanks to him.

So, it looks like we have plenty of matches to look forward to.

You watch all these games and realise what very good and underrated teams we had under Sir John.

Aspin left nothing on the pitch and would die for Port Vale. Porter was similarly hard working but with more skill than many credit him for. Van der Laan the same. Worked like a trojan and not without goal-scoring ability. Guppy we know about. Bogie was a classy player. Glover oozed class as sweeper. And then the front two were a marvellous pairing - full of running and very talented with an eye for goal. Not many weaknesses. Maybe short on height at the back without Swanny but I think we forget just how good they all were during that era. A real togetherness as well.

Will we see their like again any time soon?

I couldn't agree more. I think if I had to choose a favourite player Andy would be right up there. Fantastic performer on those big occasions.

Thanks Rob, always a pleasure to see us beating Stoke!!  Don't know why the commentator was surprised at the sending off,  high and late, was only a second yellow, not a straight red.   Aspo and Glover were absolute class weren't they - every game we watch. Nice.
