For fans who used to criticise “languid Leon” they should watch this match. Togwell will no doubt win MOTM but Constantine has been brilliant !

Constantine and I insist on this, had the best first touch of any player I have seen outside the Premier League.

I used to tell anyone who would listen (and even some who wouldn’t) that not only was Constantine the best goalscorer at Vale, he was also the best player. He got a rough deal on occasions from some of our followers.

Constantine: What was also noticeable was his work rate. Often seen tracking back to defend and harassing their defenders when they were in possession; the corner he won from one such situation in the second half was a good example

Enjoyable game with both teams playing attacking football with a lot of pace and passion. But, after weeks of watching Rudge-era teams, what was noticeable was the decrease in skill, especially in the passing game. Vale seemed to have several players who were comfortable on the ball; Fortune, Cummings, Togwell, Constantine, Dinning for example, but over and over Vale attempts to move the ball around would come to failure with a poor pass

The positional play was inferior too with players not providing as much width to their supportive play, there just wasn't as much dynamic movement by payers off the ball as in the Rudge era

Finally, what a good goal keeper with a safe pair of hands and quick wits was Mark Goodlad. Such a shame that injury curtailed his career

Points-with-Bone

There was several good performances in the game from both sets of players. Cummins dining togwell were superb but Doncaster were decent away they had a good manager in dave penny and played football the right way Mcindoe and coppinger great midfielders and heffernan good striker for that level.
