Just said same thing on a text to a mate. Going to be a lot of disappointment for lots of us .

Personally I want to go Barrow and I'd like to be able to go Bolton and Tranmere as big following from us.

Fingers crossed for some safe solutions.

Good for them.

I think Holker Street (?) was one of the first away games I ever went to. I've ticked that one off but I guess I wouldn't recognise the ground now.

The back of beyond.

But congratulations to them.

Good to see one of the older traditional teams back "where they belong."

I was at VP the last time we played Barrow in ‘67, but did not go the away game so this will be a new venue for me. Been past the ground on several occasions but never seen a game there.

It was rather surprising that they failed to get re-elected in ‘72 as only two years earlier they were playing in the old Third Division.

However, there was a clamour to get Hereford into the league following their FA Cup defeat of Newcastle so they probably fell victim to that.

Anyway, welcome back !

Fair point, my friend.

I was really commenting on how it's a little awkward to get there - out on a limb on the n-west coast.

But, yes, a great many towns in the midlands and the north have struggled since the eighties.  And I guess we both share that problem.

I did also add that I was pleased to see one of the older traditional teams back in the League.

Now for Workington, Bradford PA and Southport!

Barrow and Gateshead were both voted out of the league for geographical reasons.  Barrow finished 9 points ahead of Crewe but Barrow is in the back of beyond and Crewe has a nice station right next to the ground.  The same happened with Gateshead who were third bottom when they were voted out - it's a long way from London!
