League One and Two clubs look set to vote on salary caps in the coming weeks. The potential proposals include a squad budget of £2.5m in the third tier, while League Two clubs would be given a budget of £1.25m.

Is it wise to have a budget cap to stop clubs overspending or is it a waste of time as clubs will find loopholes.

Have your say in our vote...

My club almost went to the wall on at least 2 occasions ....have sold many players to teams above them inc premiership. A level playing field if salary cap arrives ....we have also lost players to non league clubs paying more ? This would also end .

A salary cap should make it easier to compete with teams in the same league but will affect relegated / promoted teams badly. The only way a relegated team from the championship can go from a 20 million to a 3 million budget in league 1 is to have a relegation clause in player contracts. Which means promoted teams from league 1 aren't going to be able to sign good players because they won't sign for a team who has a higher probability of relegation and a massive pay cut the following year.

Also essential to curtail parachute payments, especially from Ex Prem  clubs like Sunderland.
