Sentinel: Port Vale have their say on Katie Hopkins after she criticises Marcus Rashford

See, I'm struggling again with this, Hopkins is a self serving publicity seeker and a moron of the highest order, if you dont like what she says or stands for then block her, let her make her noise in an empty room but don't ban her, don't ban free speech, banning free speech is the thin end of the wedge.

Ash Sarkar the champagne communist and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown are equally as obnoxious to me so I ignore them, let them have their say and it shows how stupid and ignorant they are.

I'm repeating here what I said on the BLM thread.

There's a misunderstanding here of what free speech is. It isn't just about being able to say what you like, regardless of the hurt or upset it causes. Free speech comes with responsibilities and I'm not surprised she's been banned. Rightly so. Spreading hate and abuse on a public platform should not be tolerated. Most of us know she's obnoxious but thousands of people out there will follow what she says and adopt the same stance. She can spout her intolerant right wing garbage to herself in the mirror but not on a public media platform with millions of users.

Certain things are just not acceptable in a civilised society and we should not give extremists like her the oxygen of publicity to spread her appalling views.

Why do you think Germany has banned people from shutting down parliament, showing a swastika or spreading Nazi ideology?

Jacko is bang on the money. You break the rules with your obnoxious racist comments and you are rightly banned.

It's weird how one of the characters from one of the only reality TV series I've ever seen went on to become a famous right wing pundit. From what I remember of the Apprentice she was a typical shitehouse, not particularly competent except in covering her own arse

When she was a student at Exeter Uni she blagged a regular column on the local newspaper the 'Express & Echo' and churned out the schlock-horror nastiness that she would  become infamous for. Eventually when a poll of locals recorded that 94 per cent of them wanted her gone she was shown the door, but it seems that's maybe where she got a taste for it all

Personally I think she's one of those people who prefer the spout of their teapot on the same side as the handle

Twitter, like this message board, has rules. If you break them you’re gone. Simple.

Absolutely right and don't you lot forget it or you'll be standing in the naughty corner. :ovf:

@TheSage is absolutely right. Loads of people quote the "you have the right to free speech" part without seeing the full protocol. It goes on to say that if what you are saying is against the law or can cause a threat to (for example) public order then you are abusing free speech. Here's the text of the Human Rights Act...

--

1. Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference.

2. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.

3. The exercise of the rights provided for in paragraph 2 of this article carries with it special duties and responsibilities. It may therefore be subject to certain restrictions, but these shall only be such as are provided by law and are necessary:

(a) For respect of the rights or reputations of others;

(b) For the protection of national security or of public order or of public health or morals.
