If you want to argue that the statues are a good thing because if certain things they have done, I don’t think it does your argument much good to try and pretend these people didn’t believe horrendous things. Churchill was racist. Baden Powell was homophobic and looked up to fascists. You can’t argue that we need to preserve these things for educational purposes and then pretend half of their lives aren’t relevant. 

the Scouts Law was originally from 1908, with a couple of updates after that. and shows his values for the world wide movement, I don't know if he looked up to the fascists generally but perhaps in principle to how they worked the  youth organisation formed in 1922, ie exercise, healthy living, comradeship, camping, which mirrored his idea of scouting, but when hitler came to power in 1933 he changed its name, and added the militaristic training...

He said Mien Kampf was a wonderful book.

Problem is, they close ranks when one of theirs kills someone. Its happened countless times. It wouldnt have happened with george floyd had there not been videos and protests. It happened in buffolo when the 75 yr old was knocked unconscious. Joe Bologna, despite a history of corruptness had police officers clapping him as he entered court for assault. I read this morning about a police officer who stood up to a colleague beating choking someone. She was fired one year short of receiving a pension and so was left with nothing, becasue she put her colleague at risk. She did have the problem of being black and a woman though. he has missed the point like many others. It isnt just about George Floyd. Its about institutionalized racism.

I’m asking you what made you think he is racist. Because you’re very quick to label Corbin racist but defend Baden Powell who called mein kampf, an incredibly anti Semitic book, wonderful. The mental gymnastics here is incredible.

Look, Jeremy Corbyn is a massive racist. Fact. End of. Papers told me. 

Imperialism? The Slave Trade? Mein Kampf? Got to be careful there. Don't want to be throwing around the 'R' word willy nilly. Much more nuanced needed. Imperialism did a lot of good. Hitler was good for the economy. Don't erase history.

I've just gave me answer about corbyn to fosse69's question, and regarding B-P I stated why I thought he might have been drawn to the youth groups in Germany, which in the beginning followed his ideals of the scout movement...
