Final Vale preview now available!

We are joined by friends of the show, Sentinel & SOT Live report Michael Baggaley and our sponsor Inplayman to look at the weeks news and preview the Vale squad. We go through the latest happenings at Vale Park with the pre-season friendly v Sheffield Wednesday, ticket sales and more potential signings amongst the topics. We speak to Matt from Inplayman (and big Vale fan!) to discuss changing up our weekly tip for the season. He's got some season bets for anyone interested too! And then the 5 of us discuss the squad and where it is a week out from the season starting. Are we better or worse than last year in each department?

The league 2 predictor comp has got bigger as well! Thanks to Super Vale Abroad we will now be giving away a 2022/2023 shirt of the winner's choice, and thanks to Inplayman there's also a 50 quid amazon voucher in the prize fund, to go with the 3 pints we've offered! To join in the comp, simply send us your top 7 (in order) and your bottom 2 (in order) predictions for League 2 this season either on here, Twitter or Facebook. Scoring works as follows, if you get the team's predicted league finish spot on, you get 0 points, if you are 3 places out, you get 3 penalty points. The person with the lowest penalty points wins! We'll keep track over the season!

Available on Apple, Google and Spotify podcasts. And here! https://aleandthevale.podbean.com

And if you are going to have a bet, with some of Inplayman's tips, only bet what you can afford to lose!

Oh yeah, reading through properly again and it makes sense. 2022-23 just seemed like an obvious typo considering the 2021-22 shirts have just been revealed. But you're right it's better to wait for the new one if the winner is decided after this season has finished

Interesting points about team improvements. For me, the following points are for discussion.

Goalkeeping- Potential for improvement and greater competition.

Wingbacks- Improvements and more threat. Probably the most improved department.

Centre backs- Height, speed and aggression needed and maybe from what I’ve seen and know, an improvement.

Midfield- Pett looks a good acquisition. Walker gives us more height and legs. If Taylor can improve we will be quite well off for mixing it up.

Wingers- No change for me, unless we get someone in. Amos remains a passenger in many games. Will be interesting to see how we use the ability of Worrall.

Strikers- We need Rodney and Wilson to click and for Procter to score more per games than previous. So for now, potentially better if we can get a youngster that can pressurise the others.

Summary- Overall a better group of players and certainly taller and experience apart from goalkeeping. I feel DC has flexibility within the squad to tweak formations to suit if required to do so. Heart says play off’s, head says just short.

Who's Amos? Have I missed a signing?

Good afternoon fellow Valiants,

One hope's you have all been keeping well. Jeff has been away at sea on his reasonably sized fishing vessel, searching waters far and wide.

Do not fear though, after what was at times a perilous 6 months out there on choppy waters, one has returned to see Darrell James Clarke bring glory back to the streets of Burslem.

Here is one's prediction:

1. Port Vale

All the very best,

Jeff.
