Colchester Preview!

We give final reactions on the Newport game and how we feel a couple of days after. After that it's in to some interesting bits from Darrell Clarke's press conference, Harry McKirdy amongst others! After that a Colchester preview, and their season has gone very much like ours. Can we take advantage of that little bit of confidence from Tuesday and push forward?

Colchester Review!

Heads spinning as we've won two games in 4 days! A good team away performance as we keep Colchester under wraps for most of the afternoon, whilst again improving in creating chances. Pressure off a bit? Or should the pressure still be on the players given they are playing for their futures? 9 games to go, but things look a lot rosier than even a week ago!

Agreed Stupers! Will listen to the pod in the morning, missus has had enough of my ear/ eyes on the Vale!

I do though, listen to the pod in the bath......... oh for some solace!

Do I want to picture that or not!

It feels like in a week, the whole club has turned more positive. Amazing what a couple of wins do. A lot of work to get right in the summer, but ultimately it feels like we got the wins because we prepared well, played well and executed well. Those wins were coming with my more positive head on, as I know i've been a bit gloomy recently. I look forward to being relentlessly positive in the upcoming months!

Our Sam Stockley special is available now!

We speak to Sam about his career, beginning at Southamption, before hitting Barnet, Oxford, Wycombe and onto Vale. His time at Vale included the Sinnott/Glover dynamic, being at the start of the Micky Adams era and becoming Boomer for a few seconds. Pretty eventful! Then we find out what he's been up since leaving Vale. An incredibly interesting and honest story!

Crawley Preview!

We react to the Hereford reserve fixture, Nathan Rooney's appointment as Head of Coaching, along with the David Flitcroft interview from Wednesday. Then, we preview the Crawley game. They're in 10th place and were doing well until a recent defeat to Barrow. Can we continue our good form and get another 3 points?

Also, best of luck to ex-Vale loanee Lewis Hardcastle who has had to retire early from football.

The podcast interview with Sam Stockley was excellent. What really genuine nice guy. He almost made me feel bad for booing him😀

Good to hear from him. Always interesting to hear the goings in at Vale around that horrific time post Foyle meltdown with Sinnott and Glover. What an absolute shambles the club was. Thank god for Micky Adams.

Just gathering some views from the listeners about the McKirdy registration. What do people think?

Suspect it will be a big topic next few days with a people on one side of the fence and some on the other!

Fair number of mixed views in the thread already.

Ey up Stu, keep up the good work!

I’m not a big fan of McKirdy but he’s clearly a talented lad who gives us something different. I also think everyone else in the squad has had a chance to prove themselves so good to see he’ll get the same opportunity.

I think DC sees him as a “project” and he would be an asset if Clarke can get a tune out of him. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see McKirdy earn a contract for next season.

The best news here is we probably won’t have to suffer your best mate Mills again!! 😉

I wouldn't put too much stock in the McKirdy decision - it make much of a difference to be honest - it's just a body in the squad, and only for the last 8 games. There is Bob hope of him being here next season - he isn't the kind of player that Clarke will tolerate.

Anyone who doesn't think there is going to be an enormous upheaval in the summer is just not paying attention.

 * Loads of out of contract players

* Underperforming squad

* It's the first window to start constructing the new world order under Flitcroft and Clarke

* History of Clarke ripping things up

* The way he plays (multiple formations, even within games) demands a flexible squad makeup

* The state of the COVID/post COVID player & contract market

I would expect there to be 7-8 new starters the first day of next season.
