Smudge and Bris at heart of defence. Gibbo and Crookes at full back. Unless Leicester want to offload Mitch and we can afford him. Joyce, Conlon/Manni, Burgess/Taylor  in midfield. Wozza, Amos and Pope/Cullen upfront. Monty could ghost in at anytime for me. Defensive cover or ideally offensive winger. Should make top 7 with this. If anymore players brought in, should be pushing for top 3.

In reality I carn't see how we can sign up any of the out of contract players we wont to with no money coming in to the coffer's

Agreed..... until finances are sorted I wouldn't sign anyone.

Maybe in the current situation there’s a possibility to get ‘creative’ with contracts. The players are furloughed until October although I’m not sure that football in the lower leagues will be able to start by then. What options do a lot of players have in our league who are out of contract? There can’t be many clubs in League 2 who are in a great financial situation?

Do you mean try and get them on the cheap because of the current situation?

No. I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is that if I was a player in league 2 coming out of contract in June(and there’ll be many of them) which club in league 2 is going to be able to afford to sign me and pay my wages because it is highly likely that I’ve got a mortgage to pay etc. Now I’m no lawyer, but maybe a deal/contract ‘could’ be agreed that in these bizarre times that suits the cash strapped clubs and players that have bills to pay. Furlough ends at the end of October - keep them on til then but with the intention to extend when things get back to some kind of normality. Otherwise you may have situation where clubs don’t have players because they cannot afford them but need them to compete and players who have bills to pay but can’t get signed up. Certainly uncertain times! Maybe finance from the EFL/FA/Premier League.

Mitch Clark has tweeted his thanks and goodbyes .

Him and Gibbo are the best 2 prospects in the league as fullbacks IMO. I thought we looked much better with both of those in the side.

@Diego Maradona you’re right it’s such a strange time and my guess is that players like Smith, Amoo, Cullen, Monty and Conlon would be ones that other clubs would pick up because of the amount of games they’ve played at this level (if they don’t sign with us). But as you rightly say things are so uncertain that it may be best for them to stay where they are anyway. No one has been in this kind of situation before so who knows how it will pan out for players like that.

I don’t know how much longer furlough will last. If a player becomes a free agent and doesn’t sign for a new club straight away then Vale have to pay them an extra months wage. Whilst we do not know how are finances are going to be for next season, then we will have to wait and see where we are. I’d keep the majority of players who’ve contributed to this years season, who knows they may have got us into the play offs or even promoted. It is for that reason I’d try and keep the  players many have listed on here. In relation to Brown and Archer, I’m not sure as we haven’t seen enough of them. JA said Browne needs a kick up the backside to get him concentrating on his game and he purchased Archer after a friendly to which I have to say he did stand out against the PVFC defence. If Forest would let us purchase Taylor and he wanted to come to us then I’d purchase him, if I had a choice of him or Clarke.
