For me the worst is Ribeiro with Gannon and Sinnot behind.

What planet was Ribeiro on signing 12-13 or so players mostly from lower European leagues and expecting them to compete in Lge1. He got Vale to something like 4th but we were falling like a stone and would have been relegated with a month to go IMHO had he stayed. Virtually where ever he's been as a manager/coach has been a disaster or he's left after a few games.

I don't agree with Michael Brown being named as he took the brunt of the Ribeiro/Smurthwaite debacle and worse.  He lost Alnwick, Alex Jones and Grant in the Jan 2017  transfer window (If he could have kept any one of them Vale may have stayed up), he bought in Chris Eagles and Tyler Walker although the latter was lost to injury etc and Vale still only went down by one point. Michael Brown was thrown under the bus by Smurthwaite.

I think most of the obscure foreign blokes were signed by Smurfwaite via an agent’s catalogue and Ribeiro was part of that package.

Butler

Glover

Brown

No way should Aspo be in there. Didn't pull up any trees, but stopped the rot and kept us in the league under very trying circumstances,. Inherited a total <ovf censored> show from Brown.

TJH, Or Ribeiro via an agent's catalogue with Smurthwaite being part of the package which this article suggests.

They were mostly from one agent, a bloke who styles himself as a petrol salesman based out of Altrincham.

Seemed like a big con/money-making exercise for a few people to me, and our football club footed the bill.

Yep, He was Agent, Technical Director etc, throw in a few Scandanavians and it makes you wonder what Ribeiro/Smurthwaite did apart from mess up things even more.

How ironic this raises it's head on the first anniversary of the Shannahan's ownership.

Gannon was an intelligent guy, a good technical coach but by all accounts a terrible man manager and borderline sociopath. My daily lockdown walk takes me round by Old Trafford and his Arnold Clark garage.

How the hell do you put Brown and Ribeiro in order? I remember Tosh (RIP) saying that when Brown took over the asylum it took us a while to work out if he was a doctor or one of the patients. He bought himself time by forcing out the more egregious clowns of the Bruno summer, but only ended up replacing them with players who were slightly more subtle at being terrible.

Brown is saved by bringing in Worrall. That was an incredible signing. In fact, he brought in a few relatively bigger names, certainly compared to the bargain bin non league Aspin era.
