Bundesliga returning in May

Behind closed doors I assume. As for the players, mainly under 35, so fairly immune to the virus. Germans well ahead on testing and containment, so most likely to KO first. Set up training camps, maybe isolation but no more onerous than some care home staff.

We're months behind them in testing and miles ahead of them in terms of deaths. Looking at around 20,000 tests needed for players and staff we were shocked, but the Germans went 'yeah, no problem'.

If they're two months ahead of us then that means behind closed doors football is possible here in July. This virus isn't going away. We need to adapt to it. Let's hope it goes well and that any missteps or setbacks we can learn from here.

Beg to differ Fosse, no one is immune to this virus.

True, but it a question of risk. How many players will have underlying weaknesses compared to the general public? Nobody can be sure that they would survive an attack by the virus. But lots of people take that risk every day, why should players be any different, not essential workers but would lift the spirits of a lot of people.

I agree it's a risk but we'll all eventually have to go outside and start things moving again. Without being silly about it.

The Germans have been way ahead of us since the start and have already tested x4 the number we have. If they get cleared by the tests and put in as many safety measures as they can.....

Young, very fit, professional sportsmen are I imagine at less risk than most of us, but not totally safe, of course they're not.

It really would give everyone a huge boost. Huge.

Total sense Sage.

I don't think this thing is ever going away completely, personally.

We're going to have to start trying to get back to things sooner or later or, frankly, there wont be any point in ever coming out of lockdown anyway.

Life, at some point, is going to have to go on.

I've adhered to everything that's come out so far.  But I wont be doing that forever.

Life would be very grim indeed.

Some players were complaining about it, saying they wouldn't want to spend six weeks away from their family. Now it may not be ideal but if safety is guaranteed then getting paid 10-100 grand a week to stay in a camp with all mod cons and a bunch of your mates doing something you love, whilst round the rest of the world people are stuck in their homes worrying if they'll be able to find any gainful employment when they get out. Yeah, sorry if I don't feel too sorry for the footballers who are fortunate enough to play behind closed doors. Besides international players do this thing every two years at international tournaments, and one had been scheduled this summer before corona struck.

We're closing in on four times Germany's body count now and they have 16 million more people than we do. Yeah, I think the Germans know what they're doing in terms of keeping the virus under control.

Yes,perhaps we should also have a multi-payer health care system as well.Paid for by statutory health insurance and private health insurance?

Seems to be working very well.

German politicians are talking about making the players wear masks which would need replacing every 15 minutes!

Physical contact and goal celebrations would be banned and a goverment draft said "If masks slip, the game must stopped immediately"!

Sounds like a non-starter to me?

That's just silly talk and obviously won't happen.

Absolute rot, the Germans are more than capable of producing  non-slip masks
