Billionaire owners of football clubs

Recommended Posts

What are your thoughts on the above subject, making the taxpayer pay the wages of the staff who have been placed on furlough. It’s not the employee fault and these billionaires should pay the wages, not the players.Taxpayers are football fans who go to see the players not the owners. Footballers may be on fantastic salaries but these are agreed by the owner, whilst the owners help themselves. Apparently the money the EPL have given the EFL £125m, is only an advance.

It’s a total disgrace and shows the greed of these vile individuals. I believe that some EPL clubs are paying their staff and haven’t stopped so low as to furlough staff. LFC have done it even though they made £42m profit last season

Yep. Now they seem to be trying to pressurise the players to take a pay cut and to send those savings over to the EFL as an advance on later payments that are already mandated to the EFL.

During this time of crisis Premier League footballers should be giving percentages of their wages to help pay lower league player's wages and to the NHS and charities. The billionaire club owners should not be taking advantage of public resentment over Premier League wages to save themselves money.

Premier League owners & clubs & players should be giving money to lower league clubs & lower paid staff & charities.

Not Premier League players taking wage cuts so that Premier League owners & clubs can save money, with a small donation to the NHS thrown in, whilst Premier League clubs are also furloughing staff so as to take money back from government. That's robbing Peter to pay Paul, at best.

It will gradually work out I hope into ethical behaviour. I don't think all Premier League clubs can be branded wealthy. Even Liverpool are a sporting business and their group will take a hammer blow from cancellation of the US Major League Baseball Season. They do have massive outgoings aligned with the TV and other money coming in. Norwich are just a very well run club, not wealthy etc. But they could all do better sorting it out. Scottish football looks like it may be about to implode. Major disagreement brewing.
