I was not an admirer of Kiko, he may have had a decent left foot but the defensive part of his game as a left full back was woeful. 

There were probably worse full backs from years ago but I tend to remember the good full backs not the bad ones.

Darren Hughes gave great service to Port Vale and he was a quality left back

 

I mentioned Darren Hughes as a comparison with Lawrie Pearson as per my sentence:

"Rudgie made no mistake the next time, he replaced Pearson with Darren Hughes!"

So I'm not suggesting Hughes as a "worst ever" candidate (he was fantastic) but it was to say that a measure of how poor Pearson was was that when Hughes was signed to replace him it was like he was from another planet as he was a proper player. So, no, I'm not bracketing Hughes with them - I'm saying Hughes was a million times better... 😉
