I think that Santa is of the generation that views the Arndale bombing as a redevelopment opportunity, rather than two weeks in hospital in agony. Or worse.

McClean has been fined two weeks wages,so let's hope the £60,000 will go to a decent cause?

The Irish supported the Nazis

Because the Nazis dressed better than the Brits. Seriously though, I had two uncles who fought in the Battle of Britain.
Born in Tipperary , they emigrated to England and joined the RAF. One was shot down over France , but survived the war . The other survived it as well.
The first job that  I had  at 16 was working for a painter  who had fought after landing on Sword beach. He told me that he had shot a  Hitler youth  , who was only 16.
He was a nice man . Fifty thousand Irishmen fought for the Allies in WW2, and many never returned. They signed up without even thinking about it.

If Islamic terrorism came to an end now and in 30 years time there was a Muslim footballer who refused to wear a poppy on his shirt we'd think he was a knob, even if he did raise good points about the invasion of Iraq causing a lot of deaths. But if he put a picture on Instagram of him with a load of sausages taped to his chest saying he was teaching his kids history then I'd say aye, that's quite funny from that knob head.

I want to stick to McClean's present behaviour. Only he is responsible for this. He has crossed a threshold with me from holding a different point of view that I didn't like to be actively provocative and obnoxious. I'm glad he doesn't play for Port Vale.

True. The IRA supported the Nazi's. I  know several Irish who were involved on D-Day.  My father in law born and bred in Manchester always gives it the big "bouys behind the wire" crap  when he's had a few.

Can't be doing with it. Neither can my wife thankfully. We were both caught in the Manchester bombing.  Both ended in hospital.

You know, we talk from experience not ideology.

As an Irish person, firstly I’m sorry you had that experience. As with your current problems I wish you nothing but health and happiness.
The Manchester bombing was not done in my name and there’s a world of difference between the provisional IRA and ‘the Irish’.
