We've already done the best-ever Port Vale XI, now it's time to discuss the worst-ever Port Vale XI starting with the goalkeeping position. Who gets your vote and why?

Post your suggestions on this thread about who we should consider and then we'll put all the most popular suggestions to the vote and select the best of the worst...

This is probably harsh seeing as he only played two games for us, but Neil McAdam gets my vote.

In one of our promotion years in the 80’s he was called on to play in a night match at Hartlepool  following injury to our regular ‘keeper (who’s name I forget).

It was a vital match and we were winning 2-1 late in the game before he let one under his body (as I remember it !) for the game to finish level.

Then a long drive home, and work early the next morning. Great !

Not that I remain bitter of course !

I think he played a home game too. I think that was the spur for McGrath to pull arguably his greatest transfer coup off. He obviously though McAdam sadly wasn't cut out for it and when Siddall got injured he brought in Neville Southall on loan...

alan boswell-could be brilliant one shot-then the ball would creep through his legs or arms.

Boswell and Cherry spring to mind immediately.

Boswell was a bit of an enigma. He was poor on several occasions, but his performance at Oldham circa ‘72 was the finest example of the art of goalkeeping that I have been privileged enough to witness at any level.

Cherry will forever be remembered for the Enfield game, but overall I don’t particularly recall him being too bad.

But, like all these things, it is very subjective. As will become apparent with my midfield selection when that comes along !

I've been a season ticket holder since 1991

Worst regular we've had in my opinion is Joe Anyon.  Feel bad saying it but, in my days going the vale, we've actually had good goalkeepers as rule apart from the 2017 fiasco.

Worst I've ever seen in a vale shirt was probably Leo Fasan

And we had some utter shockers that year

John Connaughton was for a short time for me when he let that one dribble through his legs v Walsall at home in a cup replay. I remember the utter 5 second silence when everybody must have thought....no, that can't have just happened!

I always liked Keith Ball but only being about 5ft 8 did not help him when the crosses came in.

Bloke who used to stand around us on Railway Paddock called Boswell "Eve" and I never knew why until my Dad said there's an Opera singer called Eve Boswell....still makes me chuckle now!
