I actually think that on April 4th the country will be in major turmoil.

Yeah considering the Goverment have said it will be 3 to 4 months before we get the peak.

Yep, I suspect it will be a while before it returns if it does at all...

It cannot possibly be that all players will be given Corona and be able to recover from it by the 3rd April, then play behind closed doors?  More likely a holding operation to assess the situation, come up with a plan on whether to suspend promotion/relegation or a play off system between teams in top and bottom positions.

Its not just about the players, its about the many fans that congregate together and the possibility of mass cross infection.

This is a much less effective measure than frequent hand washing and self isolating for 7 days if you have a new persistent cough and /or temp >37.8 C (it’s ok to guess your temperature if you have no thermometer). #concentrateonwhatworksthebest

The problem is, as we have seen, that footballers, managers and other staff are not immune to the infection and when one person in a club tests positive the rest need to isolate.  Already Arsenal's games have been postponed, Chelsea's Hudson-Odoi has been self isolating, Accrington's game against Portsmouth was off tomorrow.  As Fosse said above, I suspect today's decision is a holding operation by the EPL and EFL whilst they plan how to conclude the season if the remaining games can't be played.

Despite what Shankly said, football is not more important than life and death.

My point was that the players having had corona would then be fit enough to play behind closed doors.  Government policy is for almost everyone to get Corona to build immunity , but not at the same time.

Saw something interesting earlier about if this drags on too long, results from the reverse fixtures could be duplicated and enforced for the last few games of the season.

That would be 6 wins and 2 draws and have us on 74.

Agreed if players are having to self isolate. My point is that the aspect re being in a crowd as a risk of contracting it is a bit of a diversion from the focus on the measures we need to take now along with planning for when other measures come into play like thinking through who the vulnerable people are in your family and neighbourhood and how you can contribute to their safety. I appreciate this is a football discussion but feel it’s expedient to reinforce the current evidence based public health messages.

I'm more concerned about where this leaves Vale's finances. Most lower league sides depend on income through the gate; if that dries up remember the players and all the other debtors still need to be paid.

I'm going to do my bit by renewing my ST early.

Our finances are sound, thanks to the owners/bits of luck with cup draws.

Correct decision has been made. Hope we all stay safe over the next few weeks. Considering we aren't expected to hit the peak of the outbreak till May, I can't see this season being concluded. Big decisions to make for the authorities.

With no vaccine or specific drugs available at the moment the only way to combat the disease if to slow the spread, sadly it's the right decision. Was looking forward to watching The Players Championship Golf this afternoon on tv, sadly it's been canceled.
