Match Thread: Port Vale v Crawley Town

First part of a home double header, a chance to firm up the POs with 6 points. L2 leading draw specialists meet 15 draws each, surely the time to do the bookies a favour with a resounding win. Tight game expected Crawley`s 4 games unbeaten against our 8. Hoping for a dry weather period to ease the strain of playing 2 home games together, also a chance of rotation of the players by Askey. Taylor @ Monty available? Time to start putting more chances away to establish our challenge. 3-1 to the Vale

First game this year for me due to an op! So heres hoping we can get stuck in and get the three points. Make no mistake this is no easy match we need all eleven to be at 100% to get the three points. This is a very tight league everybody seems to be able beat anybody, I think if we play at our best then we can do it.

I back us at home against anyone, but these have shown a significant improvement since Yems replaced Cioffi.

They've only lost 1 in 9, and that was at Crewe. Nadesan, Palmer, Lubala, and Greco-Cox are a very decent attacking quartet for League 2.

They also have ex-Vale Nathan Ferguson in the middle, who rebuilt his career at Dulwich Hamlet after we released him.

Crawley are in good form think its 6th in the form table over the last 12 games but that's down to three home form. They draw alot away 10 draws and just 1 win so I imagine they will be a park the bus kind of team. We usually struggle against sides that sit back so might be a frustrating 0 0 or 1 1 draw hopefully we will get some luck as we must be due some.

If Monty is fit, I'd play him on the left and put Worrall on the right to re-establish the dovetailing with Gibbo. This then gives the option of introducing Amoo and Brown in the latter stages, if required.

Wished we knew how sharp Taylor is, but right now, any of the midfield three would need to have an absolute mare to be dropped and bar suspension or injury, shouldn't be tinkered with at this crucial time

Cullen to continue his run, he's proving invaluable In helping to implement the teams pressing and high energy approach, while showing some great touches and intelligent link play with other forward players.

Pope still able to provide the option to change things in the last 15-20 minutes if needed, so all in all, six points from the next two games should be  more than a possibility,  providing that we perform to potential and stay focused.

The one thing we miss with Taylor is his goals, but we can’t expect him to suddenly come in and be the same after so long out. Same goes for manny. But for me joyce Conlon and Burgess are playing well together and deserve to keep the shirt.

Looking forward to this match. Been ages since the family and I have been to see Vale, it was well within the dire few months/year of NS reign that we last went. Driving down from York we always try to pick a game or two each season that looks decent, however over the past few years that's been a difficult thing to do! Looking very different now of course, and unlike previous years I'm actually looking forward to going down to Vale Park. Yes a positive result would be great but regardless I think the atmosphere and feeling around the ground will be greatly improved!

Amoo had a disappointing performance on Saturday for his standards, but he's our most creative winger( Not looked at stats only used my eyes!).Pretty much all of our attacks go through him, in particular at home. Struggling to understand why a few here want him out of the team.

He was great the previous game against Scunthorpe, tore them to shreds - I expect him to shine again Saturday.

Same team again for me as last Saturday, although a match fit Manny or Taylor would be handy to bring into give us more firepower on the pitch.

This may be one of those seasons where we need to give them a little push to help the squad over the line. No wrist cutting if we go 1-0 down, stay behind them. It's a very, very winnable game and one we really, really need to now we're down to the last 9. Support them onto 3 points. Amoo needs backing and support to come out of his shell and run at the full back, give it to him.
