Cheltenham tickets on sale

At Newcastle, away tickets are only sold to Season Ticket holders or fans with a membership which costs about 40 quid a year.  All sales are recorded and points awarded.  Tickets are put on sale on a sliding scale so for a high demand game the initial sale might be to ST holders with 80 away points and gradually reduce until all are sold.  But again, you have to have a season ticket to get at the top of the queue.

I'm not aware of any clubs that have an away membership scheme that is unrelated to STs - does anyone know of one?

This whole debate has been caused by a freak selling out of the 8000 in no time for Man City.

Contributory factors, admission price of a tenner, first big cup game in years, not far to travel.

For me there is no need for a League 2 club on our crowds to have some sort of members scheme. The cost for starters.

Now they could have some sort of database for those who go to your Crawleys, Colchesters and Stevenage etc , that is only right and fair.

With Vale you have to hold your hand up and say our support is either all or nothing.

Some of the followings at say Swindon and Stevenage were rather mediocre at the least, then a whiff of the promotion apron and we are selling one per person for Cheltenham 6 weeks later !!!

I am a season ticket holder and i probably go to 10 to 15 away games. Doesn't make me a better fan than a non season ticket holder or somebody who only goes to Macc and Crewe.

True. You can’t create a process based on an outlier.

Mrs supports them, she comes to the Vale so I go Wolves with her but not since they’ve been promoted.

That's fair enough. As long as you don't celebrate any of their goals. There'll be trouble otherwise.

Don’t mind Wolves and they are one of the most entertaining teams to watch but  I will always be Vale and have been known to wear my Vale top at Molineux.

I agree a membership scheme wouldn’t work as we’re not a big club where there is a demand for tickets whether at home or away.
I think the problem was caused with the MCFC game where ST holders were allowed two tickets but as there was no accounting system in place the unscrupulous ones had more than the two tickets that they were entitled to. I’m hoping that this will never happen again and one ST or 10 game ticket, equals one ticket. I’d have thought that with having a fans database this will allow the club to keep accounts of games that fans have attended. I don’t think in needs to be divided between home games or away games as all tickets, have to come through the ticket office and just go on games attended.. I accept this might penalise fans who decide to go last minute and pay on the day, but it will also encourage fans to be a little bit more organised.

So ST holders and 10 game ticket holders first, then break it down into numbers of games attended ie 15+, 10+,5+ and then general sale. General sale wouldn’t stop fans who have already had a ticket from getting more tickets. The games would obviously only apply if we’d played those many games. If not the club work it out as a percentage of games played and adjust the numbers accordingly.

Pretty pathetic following.....less than 2 hours straight down the motorway.....can't even sell out a paltry 1500.....and we're sitting pretty in the play offs.....forget all this nonsense about priority away tickets.....

It does make life difficult for the club trying to organise away ticket sales.
