Cheltenham tickets on sale

Never simple when demand exceeds supply, highest priority should be ST holders with ample away tickets/vouchers, then STs . But what value do you put on away supporters  without STs. Does it help away performances to hear SVA or not? There should be a balance somewhere. STs obviously have priority for home ticket games, not that we have had many lately, but away games are not that simple. No doubt some non-STs attend a few more than 30 games, surely worthy of recognition? No doubt a reasonably equitable system will be available for next season.

What about people who live miles out of the area and/or often work weekends for whom buying a season ticket is pointless as they can only fit a small number of games in? It’s a pain in the arse enough already to get tickets for away games as they can’t always be posted out in time if it’s a numbers restricted away match.

I have in the past held a ST even though I could barely use it just to put the money in the club. Next week I’m paying separately instead of using the offer for Bradford and Crawley just to put the extra few quid in the club. I inefficiently use annual leave days to try to get to certain  matches. I travelled just under 14,000 miles in 5 days in 2013 to fly back for the Rochdale and Northampton games. Should a ST ticket holder in Sneyd Green or Seabridge who has it easy getting to Vale have had priority over the many Vale fans like me who live miles away or don’t work MF 9-5 in getting a home ticket for that Northampton match?

I live out of the area and work during the week so can't get to the ticket office when they go on sale during the week and everyone has to queue.

I might sometimes moan that the ticket office don't answer the phone and that the club don't make more provision for someone in my situation to get tickets. I don't however moan that the person who gets a ticket ahead of me doesn't deserve it as much as me. I just see it as unfortunate for me.

I was just stating that there is a reason that the club provide tickets to season ticket holders first and it isn't right to imply that someone who gets a ticket doesn't deserve it when they given money to the club whatever way.

Agree with most of that. Only thing I differ on is, if you've got away tickets for the last 4/5 games of the season, you should be equal priority to a season ticket holder.
Before I get jumped on, I am a season ticket holder and can see both sides of the debate.

It is a problem of success and not having a proper ticketing system. Hopefully next season with full ticketing records it will be easier to judge demand and allocate in a fair manner with the experience gained and comments received.

That's your view but I'm a season ticket holder who put money into the club upfront when the prices were first announced.

The fact I and others did this allowed the owners to budget for the season and build the squad that has gone on to do so well.

If we hadn't bought season tickets the owners may not have been able to invest in the players that they did.

A weaker squad may not have performed as well as we have and you may have decided to keep your money in your back pocket rather than spend it on tickets to watch a struggling team.

There is a reason why season ticket holders get first dibs on tickets and your view is pretty blinkered to your situation.

I hope you get a ticket as you are clearly an avid fan but to imply that someone else is less deserving than you is unfair. Especially if that someone invested almost blindly in the squad and as in the circumstance you described has given money to the club for games that they were unable to go to.

The reason why I didnt have a season ticket is because my washing machine packed in so the money had to be used for that. I would still go the games even if we were bottom of the league so vale bave got my 20 quid for a ticket for 20 home games a season which works out more money than what a season ticket is so I pay out more.

We have this argument every time there is a ticket shortage for a game. Can someone tell me any league club that does not give priority to season ticket holders in these circumstances?

Clubs with away membership schemes, whether there are any outside the Prem I do not know.

At Newcastle, away tickets are only sold to Season Ticket holders or fans with a membership which costs about 40 quid a year.  All sales are recorded and points awarded.  Tickets are put on sale on a sliding scale so for a high demand game the initial sale might be to ST holders with 80 away points and gradually reduce until all are sold.  But again, you have to have a season ticket to get at the top of the queue.

I'm not aware of any clubs that have an away membership scheme that is unrelated to STs - does anyone know of one?

Good idea, and if you accumulate enough points you don't have to go.

Leicester do, they also run a ballot for some tickets.  Wolves may have something similar

Away priority scheme buy a day before STs,  but I think it is quite difficult to get into.

How much is it to get a membership at Leicester to allow you to buy home tickets.  It was crazy money a couple of seasons ago.  How does the away scheme work??

Last time I looked there was a waiting list for some of the memberships, which were £75. As for the away scheme will look into it but from memory it would take a few seasons to build up sufficient ticket purchases outside the scheme, probably as a ST, especially during a successful period.
