Is there any statistics showing mortality rate of social class?

Poverty increases health risks associated to mortality rates of Covid-19, such as obesity. Poor people are also more exposed to overcrowding and less able to isolate themselves at home than richer people. So we should expect some correlation I. The statistics.

But as there is no effective treatment for Covid-19, other than providing supportive care if patients are having difficulty breathing by themselves, then wealth won't be of much great benefit to a Covid-19 positive person's chances of survival.

Shock ! Horror ! Journalist making news on the Government controlled radio station. Not a lecture it is fact.

Facts like "lower paid people will find the current situation harder"?

Yes,we know Emily,we are all not BBC employees.Talk about stating the bleeding obvious.

Saying that Covid 19 was a  "great leveller which doesn't discriminate" was turned into a class war by the BBC to beat the government with.

The fact that she's lecturing us on inequality.

No, she is pointing out that the virus does not attack all sections of society equally as has been suggested in the media and the "we're all in this together - look at Boris and Prince Charles getting it" rubbish.

If it's given the opportunity it does.... the virus doesn't discriminate..... try the old boys handshake with an infected person.

You are more likely to catch the virus if you don't/can't self isolate effectively..... which may depend on your finances.

If you are under 60 you seem less likely to die because of the virus...... but possibly not more likely to catch it...... you could imply the virus is ageist.

But the obvious is brushed over and ignored most of the time, when it is not it is news.  As for Covid 19 being a leveller I don't agree, some start their response  older or fitter than others and are more resistant than others..  Why they are at that age or state is due to many causes, heaven help countries in the world at war or extreme poverty.

Hindsight is wonderful.

I don't believe there is a better person to have lead us into battle against Coronavirus than Boris unless you have any ideas?

I'm not alone either, after electing his party with a huge majority his handling of the crisis has been positively received by the public, according to the data. Some suggesting it's the highest approval rating for a PM in years.

Have the EU managed to procure those ventilators yet?

Hardly suprising, wasn't he a former Labour activist who said at the end of January that "The media was escalating anxiety by talking of a killer virus plus growing fears. In truth from what we currently know Covid19 has moderate transmissibility and relatively low pathogenicity. There is no need to foster panic and exaggerated language".

Matt Hancock needs to be sacked. He’s accused doctors and nurses in the frontline of wasting PPE. To keep things sterile you cannot use the same PPE, for treating two patients. All this will do is transfer the virus so you’re technically signing someone’s death warrant. He’s a politician, doctors and nurses aren’t and they say that they don’t have enough. They’ve got no reason to lie and when you put the news on everyday, ppl are making PPE, for the hospital workers. He’s followed this up by saying those who work on the frontline  for the NHS and have died, have contracted the virus elsewhere and not in hospital treating those affected by the virus.

His comments I find irresponsible, unacceptable, unprofessional and totally unacceptable. He needs to go and work in a hospital for a couple of shifts and see if he changes his opinion. I’m not an NHS employee but we need these ppl more than ever. They are champions and set an example to all of us, I would want to swap places with them. We have ppl who’ve done their bit for the BHS and have gone back, to assist their colleagues and have now passed away. This snake Hancock has no concerted what the word sacrifice means. The media needs to take this up on behalf of our NHS Heroes

The Government says there is enough PPE, the doctors and nurses says there isn’t. An investigation needs to take place to see if the Government is lying or it is incompetence from those at the top of NHS. Totally unacceptable that Doctors and Nurses are not properly protected. A shortage of Refriberators I understand but PPE, there is no excuse.
