Why would that be? What is the problem that bothers you? Why are you so happy not to wear a mask? Do they help? Not much. 10% or so. The psychological effect is way more important.  Like, there is <totally paranoid swear censor - <shed > going down better be careful.

Just got back from four days in Germany. Mostly having to wear a mask. So what? What is your problem? You want freedom to cough everywhere with abandon?

When I went to Japan years ago,  everyone wore a mask on public transport, It's no big deal. Unless you make it one.

People have been wearing masks here for a long time, especially in the town's because of pollution.

Wearing one tightly causes me medical problems but I do wear one loosely because it makes others feel more comfortable, especially my wife.

Personally I have no problem with people choosing to wear them. I do have concerns about forcing people to wear them and the inacurate information surrounding there effectiveness and especially to the reaction of some to people who can't wear them.

I do find humour when I see an "official" wearing a mask like a chin nappy demanding someone else wears a mask.

All fair enough Mr G.  All the best to you and family,

The trouble with the "mask debate" is that mass produced cloth masks have flooded the market, and these have been proven to be ineffective. Whereas there are specialised masks often used in hospitals that appear to be more effective (according to the data).

There is even a warning on boxes of masks that say they don't work - yet if these are taken out of the box and sold in different packages then no one will know!

It's nothing more than a comfort blanket - ie to make people feel safe (and makes others very wealthy).

Remember Matt Hancock wasting millions of our taxes on PPE that he bought from a pest control firm (£59m), a hedge fund (£252m) and a jewellers (£70m). Why would these industries sell medical equipment?! Clearly this was just more fraudulent behaviour from the government in handing out cash to their chums (ie the reason they've dragged this pandemic on and on for a "deadly" virus where 99%+ survive).

Similar to hand sanitiser stations everywhere - this is an airborne virus and the research says the virus isn't transmitted via touch - yet people feel safe by being told to sanitise their hands before entering pubs/shops etc (even though it's pointless).

Life is full of safety blankets, it's the feel good factor we all depend on. Whether we recognise them or not.

Why would you be so bothered that some people don't want to take avoidable chances with their lives. Like the guy from Leek who would still be here if he hadn't decided like you that masks and vaccines aren't worth it. And you can say it's a small number, I am sure that will be consolation to his family, especially his young kids who will still carry the burden of this in perhaps 70 years time. He is not the only one either.

Most in Scotland and Wales are still wearing masks. Their covid numbers look a lot different to ours where as you say most have stopped. 30% increase in deaths in a week and heading towards winter with no restrictions. Lets revisit this in January.

I'd argue it's having the opposite effect though.

Masks are proven to be ineffective. Hand sanitation to stop the spread is proven to be ineffective.

Yet with the government pushing these narratives, it's just adding to the fuel that this is a "deadly" virus and you must do these things to "be safe". It's terrifying people into literally doing anything they say.

My reply was more general than specific.

Just returned from Portugal, what a difference everyone without fail wears masks, in shops bars, restaurants etc 100% take up, never saw anyone who wore the Mickey Mouse cards you get here from Boots so they are exempt. To sit inside their on a Friday,or Saturday night, Portugal felt very safe.

Mean in the UK do you wear a mask or do you not, do we require vaccine passports or do we not. Meanwhile Pritti knowing that her boss hasn’t got the balls to get rid of her, carries on Sleazing, some things don’t change here.

But we've never taken this attitude before. The amount of mitigation for a virus that is 99.97 % not fatal is ridiculous. I've said before that sadly young people do die of things that generally affect old people. Yes it's sad for their families but they are massively, overwhelmingly in the minority.

Out of around 6000 Covid positive patients in hospitals at the moment, 4000 of them have supposed symptomatic Covid. They other 2000 have simply tested positive. 4000 out of total beds in Britain is just over 3% of beds. Hardly panic stations is it? Deaths by actual date of death have been flatlining for weeks with perhaps a negligible increase.

This is what I keep banging on about context. You've no doubt heard something on the news and accepted it verbatim. No questions.

Horrible little creatures but similar to the virus in some ways.

Some people get bitten a lot some don't, some have a strong reaction some none. Sometimes the government takes a blanket kill approach by spraying big areas from the air and officials to check and spray gardens, other times they don't. There are other things that bite/sting but the first to get blamed is the mosquito. More people get bitten more at certain times of the year/season than others.

Make no mistake, in not defending the screaming hoards, they should be exterminated.

Female mosquito's can pass on viruses like the Zika virus and EEE virus that are harmful and in some instances can be fatal to humans.  Genetically modified male mosquitoes are being used in various parts of the world where the male mosquito carries a modified gene which when they mate is passed on to their offspring (both male and female) and kills the female but leaves the male untouched.

it's only the females that bite and spread disease hence it's a way to prevent/reduce bites and the spread of disease.

I think I read something about that not so long ago.

There are outbreaks of dengue fever here, we report them as instructed and they are supposed to come and spray the area...... needless to say....

I would imagine the process you discribe would take a considerable time.

It was fantastic. Suppose you don’t want to leave your Eutopia where masks aren’t required because Covid is not really serious
