Sad resignation watching Cummings give evidence. Whataboutery will pervade and people have mostly settled on the 'well, they could have handled it better, but it was unprecedented times and we're through it now' viewpoint.

The highest-ranking member of government beside the PM at the time openly admitting the Government's grave, mass incompetence cost thousands of lives and it'll have about 1% of impact in the polling (CON +1).

You habitually embarrass yourself on a daily basis for these vermin. Including Cummings. Well done.

Also on numerous occasions, this morning,he admitted that he failed to give the correct advice or any advice.***ker.

Cummings can’t lie straight in bed so resorts to backstabbing.Scum.

Yet when the Barnard Castle debacle was pointed out he was defended like crazy by the usual Boris Backers on here and we were told to trust the clearly obvious bile he and Boris were spouting.

Lie with dogs and wake up with fleas...

As we all know, however, it wont impact Boris because his backers would let him get away with Murder.

Its a very sad state of affairs.

If the conservative party was led by someone who didnt have such a Trumpian lack of morals and Labour could get their act together and be a genuine challenge then the country would benefit significantly.

There's the whataboutery.

Ignore Cumming's personal failings, which he is admitting - what's your view on his testimony about the government? Try to stick to the question specifically.

Is it worse to backstab than to be leading an incompetent government and, through inaction and awful decision-making, oversee thousands of preventable deaths?

Here lies the issue.

The failings of a government now occupies a lower level of importance to some voters than Cummings being a 'snake'.

The standards we used to hold our elected officials to has fallen very, very far.

I wonder why Johnson is desperate to delay an independent public inquiry where he will face questioning on penalty of perjury until after the next election. It certainly is a mystery.

All of them. Johnson, Cummings, Hancock, Raab, Kuenssberg, tens of others. Get them in front of a panel of QCs.

I said at the time he should have gone.
