Breaking News The Health Minister and the head of National Health Agency have had their properties searched by the Police

It comes after a court launched an inquiry into the governments poor handling of the pandemic.......

In France

No one has the answers it not just us.

Its not about answers yet mate, there aren't any at the moment.

Its about trust, clarity, confidence and honesty more than anything.

Sadly, over a very short period of time, what little there was has been eroded.

It would be funny if it wasn't so deadly serious IC.

We're going to cock this up again aren't we? We've wasted the summer by not setting up an efficient T&T system but at least Tory donors and shareholders are making a fortune out of our misery.

Unless we give local health workers a greater say and have a sharp circuit breaker to break the chain of infection, while we work on a better T&T plan, then we're going to see the figures rocketing in the next few weeks. You know it and I know it. No hindsight or just one of those things, get over it, but sheer incompetence and stupidity.

Has anyone in our government taken advice from the South Koreans on how to deal with the virus?

South Korea had MERS to get their contact tracing system 5 years ago. Do you think that system would work here? There would be too many saying it invades privacy. Plus the selfish that wont adhere to the strict 14 day quarantine.

I do agree though we are way behind and playing catch up is not working.

Thailand got to grips with the virus early on.

No flights in (except repatriation), no flights out, no internal flights, no traveling between districts, government controlled isolation, curfew, bars closed, cafe's closed, shopping malls closed, face masks, temperature checks etc etc.

The cost....,

Deaths..... about 60... 3,700 cases

To the economy......, about 35% of the Thai economy is foreign  tourism based. It's taken a huge hit that will take a long time to regenerate.

Most of the above was in place by March.

Tourists can come providing they follow strict rules...... part of which includes being picked up by an official transport and taken directly to a designated hotel for 14 days, paid for by the tourist £1,250 approx, 2 covid negative tests and the first 10-12 days confined to your room.

Interesting that the government are trying to impose tier 3 restrictions in Manchester despite cases falling and even tory mps stating there is plenty of capacity at the hospitals.

No doubt the lapdog press will back Boris and co tomorrow but their behaviour seems unnecessarily provocative and stinks of political grandstanding.

But if people cannot afford to isolate they will keep out of the system,  80% furlough payments were necessary for the country before, but not necessary for the North and Midlands now.  Leicester has been in lockdown for ever, i wonder why?  Remain plus 3 Labour MPs ?

There is a lot of grandstanding on all sides to be honest right now.

It's clear that the government have not got the first idea what they are doing. Worse, they are not driven by anything other than manic ideology. There will be no effective track & trace system. There will continue to be fragmented, poorly thought out policy, appalling communication, being dragged into reactive decisions rather than leading, backsliding, and, after it is all over, blame shifting and scapegoating to ensure that the NHS/scientists/EU/little spacemen from Mars are the ones who dunnit, not me guv.

Nobody would say that any of this is easy - it's fiendishly difficult. The fact that they are utterly incompetent is bad enough. It's the fact that they refuse to listen to advice that they don't like, don't learn from either lessons elsewhere, or from their own experience, don't apologize for any mistakes, are incompetent and corrupt in handing out contracts that will save/cost lives. It's unforgiveable. They genuinely could have done 100 times better than they have done regarding their response. They just don't want to.

The things to cling onto right now: that at least people could see it coming, even if they ignored it. Systems are more ready than they were previously, treatments and therapeutics are better, vulnerable people should be more shielded, a different demographic of infection might reduce the death rate, we should be closer to a vaccine. It will still be a long, hard winter. I am still terrified for my parents, both of whom are high risk.

It's all rather muddled....

A family receive 60 calls from test and trace asking the same questions and following the same script.

First pre flight tests offered, results in 1 hour, but not mandatory for incoming passengers.

Someone died of covid after the 28 day period and isn't counted in the deaths from covid, it's unlikely they are the only ones.

A guy in America has caught covid for the second time, tested positive with symptoms, recovered and tested negative, then contracted it again (tested positive) and it's affected him worse the second time.

A guy gets refused entry into his bank for not wearing a mask even though he is exempt due to medical reasons and the bank closed his accounts because he questioned it.

Its all a confusion of madness.

If people are catching it for a second time, ie not immune after the first infection, then a vaccine won’t work.
