Match Thread: Forest Green Rovers v Port Vale

After the super result at the Cobblers in difficult conditions, let`s firm up our PO challenge at Forest Green. Another 6-pointer although they have struggled to maintain their challenge recently.  4 home defeats on the trot could focus them, so not easy, but with plenty of choice in our ranks we should cope. Gibbons suspended for 2 games, Clarke to switch to the right? Amoo, if fit , and Taylor in with a chance? Minimum change is my preference.

Vale to win by 2 goals? Easier on the nerves, but teams that can see out odd goal wins can take the pressure, so quite happy with 2-1.

Side that suits us to play against in that they like to knock it around the back and take risks so our high press should be effective as surely we will employ it.

Hopefully we can get a win and set up a huge game at the weekend. If we can claw in the clutch of teams on 54 points such as Northampton and Col U we can have a better chance

FGR seem to have lost their way this year.Since beating Mansfield 4-3 away early in January they have managed a draw at Grimsby but have lost to Salford,Macclesfield,Carlisle and Walsall, scoring six and conceding twelve goals in the process.

They've lost 4 of the last 5 and drawing 1, of those loses 3 being at home.

They have won 1 game at home in the League, Macclesfield, since the 5th of October.

Thats pretty much guaranteed we will lose this one!

Although their form is poor they have some decent players. I think teams know how they will play, so set up to stop them passing the ball out. Definitely not an easy game but it is an important one.

I was hoping for 4 points prior to bring a mate, but now I want 6 but may have to settle for 4. Will I heck, we want 6.

When was the last time we won consecutive games? We can’t have done it many times this year. We don’t usually back up a good win with another 3 points. 6 points from Northampton and Forest Green away would be huge though and none of us would have predicted that.

We need to break the habit to creep into the PO,  Our position is due to losing few games, the draws add up.

As far as I'm aware, we still haven't won back to back games all season.
