Could standing eventually return to Vale Park after government report backs its “positive effect”?

Seating areas at football grounds which incorporate barriers have a “positive impact on spectator safety”, a government report claims. The news will offer a boost to fans who are seeking a return to standing areas at football grounds.

I’d be all for it.  The costs would probably deter most clubs from reverting back to seats, probably more so in many of the new grounds that have sprung up in recent years.

I’d have loved to see this in the unfinished half of Lorne Street, but with the rest of the seats to be fitted imminently, and the owners vision for it to be a family friendly area it’s clearly not an option.

Standing was brilliant. I have always maintained that the perimeter fences killed those poor souls at Hillsborough. More crush barriers would have alleviated the crush too. I think standing with 3 steps then a barrier would be more than ok.

In the event of a Bradford type fire it would take much longer to evacuate a seated stand than a standing one, I still stand anyway on the back row, not in front of anyone.
