I would imagine that this is part of a sensible long-term plan so that rather than listening to some fans and just aimlessly splashing cash on deadline day for the sake of it, some of the Man City money will help secure the key players on decent contracts.

Being a League Two side, I don't think we will get all of them (if bigger clubs circle)  but if we can get the majority of Amoo, Gibbons, Smith, Montano, Joyce and Legge signed up too then I think we're looking pretty good for the next season.

Agree with you mostly. Personally, I wouldn't be overly bothered if Joyce was released, as I'd be very surprised if there wasn't better (and younger) out there come the summer. Appreciate others may have a different view, but this is mine!

Joyce has been one of our best and most consistent players this season in my opinion.

Genuinely chuckling at some of these responses.

Won't call the individuals out; I've made more than my fair share of bad takes in my time.

Just maybe people will exercise caution when casting judgement on the signing, as opposed to:

1. Do I recognise him?

2. Load the WIkipedia and make a snap-decision before seeing the player
