Can someone explain how breaching international law by reneging on a treaty will help us get trade deals with countries like the US?

Easy.

If we bend over for the EU then there's no way we can negotiate on equal terms with USA. The treaty with the EU is a joke, they were proper scummy with the way they leveraged the troubles to gain political capital and so we should stick the agreement right up their backsides.

We voted for brexit to be rid of their ludicrous governance not to let them annex part of our nation just so they can feel like they're teaching us a lesson.

Can someone explain why anyone would support the EU in all of this?

This is proper through the looking glass stuff. Proper "it's 1850 and Britannia rules the waves" vibes. I'm honestly not sure which part of this word salad to address first:

  • The assumption that we would somehow be negotiating on 'equal terms' with the world's biggest economy in any trade deal (we wouldn't)
  • The insane thought that the USA would somehow enter those talks in good faith, seeing what the UK is actively doing themselves right now
  • The laughable and offensive assertion that it is the EU, and not the UK government leveraging something (the troubles) which had nothing to do with the EU, and which to a large extent, the UK government caused in the first place.
  • The equally laughable reference to the 'annexation of part of our nation', by which you mean sovereign territory, firstly, which again was the result of the so called excellent agreement the UK government made, and secondly, on that basis you will presumably agree was sovereign to someone else before it was forcibly divided.

As usual, you have zero nuance to add to the debate. It's F#$^ing prehistoric stuff. Me good, you bad. Being able to acknowledge that you make mistakes is one of the key signs of growth, which is why the UK is heading backwards. Difficult to tell where - the 70's, the 40's, who knows at the current rate.

Sure

1. Introduction of the Turing scheme

2. Decreased complexity of exporting to the RoW

3. Decreased complexity of exporting to the RoW

4. Potential increase to GDP

5. Increased capacity for skilled RoW workers

6. Decreased complexity of working in RoW

7. Price decreases.

8. Introduction of bargaining power as a standalone nation.

9. Removal of the EU's ability to govern our domestic policy decisions such as their blocking of the Horizon funds because they're not happy that we're not giving into France on fishing licences.

Well that explains a lot.

1. The Turing scheme was introduced to replace the EU Erasmus scheme. So you think it's better? In what ways?

2. Can you show some examples?

3. Can you show some examples?

4. Can you show some examples?

5. Can you show some examples?

6. Can you show some examples?

7. What things are cheaper as a result of leaving the EU?

8. You think standalone nations have more bargaining power than trading blocks? That figures.

9. Gibberish.

In all seriousness, the horizon research grants show exactly why I voted for brexit.

Imagine for ONE SECOND if the UK threatened to renege on a deal that had been struck because they were not happy with some other unrelated agreement between the two parties (only joking, you don't have to imagine, you lot were apoplectic at the idea that we would look after our own interests).

Yet here we are, having negotiated to remain part of the Horizon funding and yet here the EU are, blocking our researchers and scientific scholars access because of the Northern Ireland protocol and French fishing quotas.

You list it as "practical" deficit of brexit, it's actually the main deficit of EU membership and exactly why 17 million people voted to leave that political union.

That can't be right because individual nations have greater bargaining power than trade blocks (point 8 from your list).

Get in! Well done to all those who were so determined to stop this. The best of Britain.

And of course a lot of credit should go to "sir" keir starmer who whinged that the deportations would be expensive.

If Miss Diane thinks it's unfair and cruel to send illegals to Rwanda she should perhaps pop round to the Emirates and explain that to Arsenal FC,who along with PSG have multi-million sponsorship agreements with the Rwandan goverment.'Visit Rwanda' is the message on their shirt sleeves and on advertising boards around the pitches. Can't be that bad can it and I'm sure that Jezza would also be interested as well, seeing that he is a Gooner.

Isn't it unfair and cruel to allow people to cross the channel in dingey's as well or is that ok?

'Visit Rwanda' when it suits?

If people want to go to Rwanda fair enough, being forced to go is an entirely different matter. All journeys should be safe and punishing people who risk their lives is unhumane.

If 75% or thereabouts of people coming here are granted refuge then how can they be all illegals?

You not knowing what sportwashing is, is a strange line of argument. Good luck with that.

Sky News doing a great job in holding Truss to account. This government promised no more renegotiations in their manifesto which they were elected on. They said get brexit done and its oven ready. Now want to go back on their own deal that they signed.

444 mainly single men crossed the channel illegally yesterday (Tuesday)

And a pregnant women, some children and babies.  Why are we expending so much energy on this crazy Rwanda scheme instead of making serious attempts to deal with the smugglers?

Ok entering our country illegally

Recipe for disaster and a major security problem. The lefties of course will never take responsibility for the effects of open borders and the deaths of illegals who try to get here across the channel.
