More great news,Liz Truss is about to announce a £2.9 billion trade deal with New Zealand, which will be another step towards joining the progressive CPTPP.

Yes, really great news.

Peter Holmes of the UK Trade Policy Observatory said: “The direct impact of a UK-New Zealand deal can only be minuscule. The amount of trade is negligible and New Zealand has reoriented its trade away from the UK since the 70s.

“NZ often does not fill its quota of duty lamb to the UK, meaning NZ lamb comes in with very low tariffs anyway.”

David Henig, UK director of the European Centre For International Political Economy, said: “It’s not being done for any great economic purpose. It’s very unlikely to have much of an impact.”

Trade with New Zealand?  That will do wonders for our target to be carbon neutral.

Where have all these drivers gone?

Is someone stock piling drivers to create a shortage? Is the TGWU making a comeback?

Some have retired and not been replaced due to the pandemic making tests/lessons tricky.

The ones we're interested in have returned to their EU countries and decided not to come back.

There is a backlog in training new drivers and a ridiculous cost to those who wish to do the training course.  A government subsidy for this would be sensible.

Don’t think this government will give out any subsidies and if they did they’d want it paying back the only subsidies this government will give out is to the rich

They've given out billions in furlough payments - a few extra quid to target the driver shortage should surely be considered.

According to KFC all original recipe and on the bone chicken is sourced in the UK and Ireland.

It's on their website.

I used to work from KFC and it was all sourced from Brazil and Thailand, this was a good many years ago and they now claim on the bone chicken is sourced from the U.K. which may well be true now but all their fillets were certainly sourced from Thailand.

What on earth are you talking about?  There is no such thing as the EU Human Rights Act.

I suspect you are thinking of the European Convention on Human Rights which is nothing to do with the EU.

Have a closer look…..there are different rules for eu members to none eu members even if both are signed up to the human rights act.

you can scroll through the links

About time companies started investing in training British drivers and trying to keep them long term like they used to do. Many have started, Tesco are doing some fantastic incentives to bring on new drivers. It is always high risk to rely on imported Labour as there will always be new opportunities elsewhere to incentivise those with no real ties over here.
