Players are very tired and this is because the fringe players can't come in and claim a place.  JA and Co have tried numerous fringe players and they just could not motivate themselves to say - look at me - I want to play in the first team.

See what the Jan transfer window brings in.

Personally I can’t see us doing Much, if any business.

People who don't have at least some concerns after our performances at the worst professional teams in the country are being a tad silly.

Whether their goal was offside, or our players were tired; that was very poor. Bar a huff and puff near the end we've been played off the park by a team who had won 4 in 26 before.

I have been ultra-optimistic all season and still consider 12th a good return; but people taking the mick out of people criticising that shower of a performance are being a bit daft.

You're allowed to rightly criticise woeful performances.

I really don’t want to think it’s motivation.  Could be formation, which is where tactics come into play (can the bottom teams really out think us so often?) .   If two people are marking Tom pope then we have a man over, this should help us unless we are too deep.
we need a goal scorer to either compliment Tom Pope or to replace him.  Cullen and Bennett were supposed to fit the Bill so how come it’s not happening?  I can’t believe these guys have suddenly become less able so do we need to look at some different patterns when it’s not going our way up front.
of course giving teams a 2 goal start is not always wise...

When Bennett came on he was straight on the wing and it stayed at 4-3-3.  Pope was still playing by himself and their players were still up for it as the formation we used seemed to play into their game plan.  We should have gone 4-4-2 when he came on.  No it took Cullen coming on before we went 4-4-2 and then look what happened - we started getting shots at their goal.  Their goalie actually got mud on his gloves and kit.  When it changed to 4-4-2 they seemed less capable of marking everyone and gaps appeared - we also pushed up as well.

If its not motivation - then do the players not like playing in a 4-3-3 formation ?  You hope that they are tired after a hectic Xmas period and this is where the fringe players should have been battering down JA and Co's doors - saying come on boss play me.  They have had a couple of chances in previous games and did not really take them and so JA and Co have to keep with the same players.

Play-offs over I’m afraid. At the end of the day, we just simply aren’t good enough. This season is a rebuilding season and I will take 10th place now. The task is too big for us, teams have games in hand on us and tonight was crucial. We got we deserved tonight. We should have lost Saturday against Stevenage, but poor finishing and a lucky penalty gave us the three points. Tonight we were exposed. The first 45 minutes was the worst I’ve seen us play in a long, long time. Second half was slightly better, but still very poor. I don’t want to hear the nonsense about too many games in so many days. Everyone else has that exact same problem, even Morecambe. There was no urgency in our play at all, expect for a 15 minute spell which involved a goal, Legge header and an Ammo header, which in fairness was saved well. Gibbons and Brown are the only players tonight who can hold their heads high. Everyone else performed dreadful. Legge and Joyce both had off days. Conlon, Montano and Amoo were abysmal. Another poor result against a lower side, when will this change?? Saturday is massive for us if we even want to talk about play-offs, but I feel like they are over now. I’m so angry and disappointed after watching that.

I have faith Askey. He’s taking us in the right direction, but results like these need to be addressed.

We have released a couple of midfielders who signed 6mth contracts from our development squad and looking at a player who can play in defence, but is not actually a LB - if I read right.

Hopefully we are also looking at a LB, midfielder and striker - but not holding out much hope as why would teams let their players go.  But you never know JA and Co may get lucky and get a young player who performs like Jake has done.  You never know it could happen.

Will we see more of the lower down fringe players go out on loan to see if they can actually do it in the next league down?

No major changes till the close season, unless JA uses the loan market. Performances like the one tonight just might convince him.
