Match Thread: EFLT R3 Salford City v Port Vale

Fosse69

Recommended Posts

Back to the mundane after the magnificent tussle with the champions, leaving us with  tired legs and possible injuries, as well as wonderful memories and a boost to player confidence.  Still a chance of Wembley on 2 fronts, and a £50k win bonus, but with a game at Stevenage to consider as well.  Will Atkinson be available to play? Surely a few changes to be made to ease tired limbs

Can see a few changes for this to rest some tired legs.

Brown

gibbons

brisley

smith

montano

joyce

atkinson

conlon

worrall

brown

cullen

Ive totally lost where we are in this competition now. After this game does it go to the 2 legged semi final before Wembley? Also what’s the status on bookings and suspensions for this competition.

Next will hopefully be the quarter finals on a national basis, then semis, so 2 games to Wembley awaits the winners. Others still in include Portsmouth and U21 from ManC and Leicester.

Surely it's going to be an almost entirely different team. The amount of games over the Christmas/New year period is insane!

Although I would like to beat Salford on as many occasions as possible, the whole 'Class of '92' thing really bothers me with the amount of money and influence they're going to and have had already.

I imagine a lot of changes which is disappointing as would have liked to have gone full strength but the timing of the game is wrong. Imagine 9-10 changes probably... Smith and Brisley at the back... left back is an issue as only Monty fit so he may play with Atkinson RB?

Cullen up top

Browne will come in you'd think and Conlon and probably Lloyd, maybe even Bennett out wide.

Can’t see players like smith or gibbons being rested, they’re young enough to cope. Could see maybe one or both of Taylor and Burgess being rested because of the work they got through over Christmas.

Gibbons will likely get a rest soon I guess anyway!

Maybe play Gibbo and put Atkinson in for Joyce with Conlon? You could always play Taylor and Burgess a half each to keep them fresh?

Ha ha yes a 2 game one!

I think the Atkinson and Conlon will start and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Browne
and Cullen (or Bennett) on the pitch too.
