Match Thread : FAC3 Manchester City v Port Vale

Recommended Posts

Sadly there'll always be a few but I bet the vast majority of true football mad City fans will have left the Etihad pleased they won but impressed with the spirit of Port Vale Football Club, it's team and their fans and impressed with Tom Pope's goal and the build up to it.

From the pictures/video I saw I only saw dignity, respect, and time shown by Man City staff, officials and players towards everyone from PVFC and that included one of the greatest ever coaches to manage  a football team and some great, great players.

Thanks to the FA Cup for giving Vale the chance to play Man City and make a few bob, it's a lifeline to club's like ours.

Imagine in the 70s?

They averaged 47,000 in 1974-75 in Division 2, and went straight back up as champions after being relegated the  season before. Highest attendance was  over 58,000  for their last home game against Blackpool.

Listened to the radio stoke commentary of the goal today just to hear what their reaction was, I love it when presenters lose their s h i t over a goal. Of course in the background you can hear Sproson screaming as Blakemans voice goes up 2 octaves. Then it cuts to Sproson who in typical Sproson style proceeds to big up Taylor’s contribution to the goal with his unbelievable touch, and vision and ball into Amoo, when it wasn’t actually him that played Amoo in. He’s trying to rack that price tag up 🙂

My apologies, as others have stated, the near 61000 was the highest attendance while in the old division  2, now called The Championship

They didn’t AVERAGE 61000, but they did get 61000 v Sunderland in div 2 in 1974, I was in the Stretford end that day.

Think it's you that doesn't get it:-

I didn't say you were an inferior club, I said you were inferior opposition.

Your 8000 fans didn't add much to the atmosphere either, an average premiership side with 2000 fans make more noise than your lot did.

We don't like VAR either

Our owner has done more for the community in East Manchester than Band Aid did for Africa!

I've followed City in many leagues but watching them in the premiership is by far the best experience.

Why come onto our forum just to antagonise supporters? Get back to the City forum and leave this to fans of a proper club.

There’s are many things to like about Man City in my book, but if I was a City fan I’d be getting myself to a lower league proper club ASAP. The whole thing was so false. The Jesus thing on the outside of the stadium, all this talk of the 93:20 game. So cringeworthy to real football fans. If the Vale ever turn into that, I’ll be elsewhere.

Back to the day I didn’t stick my false teeth and as I am very vocal and had to hold them in while singing which was a nightmare lmao

Also at the tram back to Piccadilly I said rather loudly that two of there goals should not have stood lol which led to my gf laughing loudly and going you know there are 450 odd Man City fans staring at you on the platform  ,lmao I said so I say what I see as I felt they should both have been disallowed as they already had enough about them win without that going for them .

A fabulous stadium ok there fans were not as passionate as you would expect from a club who win loads of trophies you would think the whole ground would be bouncing non stop as there quality .

oh well back to the Vale fans what a fantastic away support with the majority up on there feet but the odd few more concerned with eating a pie and glaring at me than getting behind the club and a stony faced woman behind who showed no passion at all according to my lovely gf who loved it as I did

I see Villa have conceded four against City in half the time it took them to get four against us. Does this mean we are twice as good as Villa?

Aguero did not get an hat-trick against us.

Smithy clearly more worthy of an England cap than Mings.

Sat in 1894 Club, plenty of other Valeites in there and couldn't hide it when we scored. Vale were loud. Great day.

We four were in the 1894 as well and we jumped for joy when Popey scored. Couldn't believe how many of us Vale were in that part (spend their £80 per ticket)! 🙂

Anyone heard about how much money we made from this game? Ive heard from a few people that Man City give us all of the gate money.

Wouldn’t be surprised, they gave Rotherham all the gate money last season.
