We've had bad refs and he joins the club. The booking of Leon then pulling the game back for the supposed head injury when we were 4 on 2 were shockers.

To be fair , refs are told to stop the match  for a head injury , although he did get up fairly quickly. From what I saw on iFollow , Legge was very fortunate not to be sent off for the first tackle , resulting in their player being carried off. He was late and just went right through him. Just my opinion.

Forgot to mention as I’m just eating my tea. I was really worried we’d concede after Pope missed the one on one during the four months of injury time played, whistle didn’t go until getting on for 4pm. Pleased we restricted them to very little, one quality save first half borne out of poor defending allowing them to run through on the left and then second half when Brown saved between his legs.

Unbelievable energy at the end. Expectedly from Worrall but Smith and Montano were at it too. It’s a psychological thing, extracting that last little bit of energy left. Need to work on the squad having the strength to dig that deep week in week out and we’d be right up there.

From where I was, Legge slid in and got the ball. Their lad, on the stretch, tried to make a block tackle at the same time and the ball got trapped between them, transferring the energy through the Town player’s leg and jarring either his knee or ankle. It was a ball that was there to be contested and it just seemed like one of those things. The referee didn’t even award a free kick and I think he only booked Legge in the aftermath because he was frightened he’d missed something. A bit spineless TBH.

I’m here!!! Well I’m not as I’m at a wedding, but celebrating both!
Brilliant result today, makes Mansfield, Orient, Salford and ... even more frustrating, don’t you think?? Should be comfortably top 7 IMHO

Regardless of points it's clear Askey's side is head and shoulders better than anything Neil Aspin managed to put together.

Can someone explain why Leon was booked?  It was a 50/50 block tackle where both players played the ball which is why it screwed up in the air.  Ref didn't blow.  Game carried on.  Three or four passes were made then their lad realised his mate was on the deck and kicked the ball out.  Physio came on.  Lad carried off on stretcher.  Game restarted not with a free kick but with a Vale throw in.  So why was Leon booked for not committing a foul????

Great performance.  Smithy MOTM for me.

The ref signalled play on albeit slightly late to be fair. I thought it was a booking, Legge took the ball but carried straight through into their player's shin. It was a bit high and the only saving grace was that he took so much of the ball first.

Legge got booked because their bloke got injured. Legge won a 50/50 fair and square. Not even a foul. Clattered their bloke after the ball had gone as a result of the fair challenge.

Sad their bloke was injured, but one of those things. In fact I think it was the ball hitting him from Legge's clearance more than any direct contact.

I've not seen a better side in this division than this Vale side. Outstanding today. The midfield three ran the show and Pope linked it all up. The back four were faultless. I've been a critic of Monty for his defending at times but he was brilliant today.

I can't see how we can't get in the playoffs. If I had to have one criticism it's that we could be better in the final third, the goals today were individual efforts really but Worrall and Amoo could be more clinical with that final ball when in behind.

Or our former owner whose signings were generally poor.

Fair point. Aspin was a poor manager though - Hence the fact that no other league club will go near him. The fact that he was handicapped by the chairman obviously didn't help but it was clear to me he was in over his head regardless.
