Match Thread: Port Vale v Swindon Town

It's a pleasure watching Vale these days despite the odd hiccup. This midfield 3 has serious quality and class in it.

I've never met Christian Montano abut he appears a good, fun guy and he tries his level best, played well today, Gerson like run.

We now know Popey is not on his own as the slowest in league football, he's at least as quick as Anthony Grant, 10/10 for his running today and effort today.

Wanted Jake Taylor to score but a tap in  would have sufficed, he takes up that position on the left of the box a lot, sheer class, beautiful piece of skill in the 1st half too.

We deserved the win today but it was easy to see why Swindon are top. A very mobile team that like to play the right way. We more than matched them though and also dug in when we needed to.  We're without arguably our most gifted player, Oyeleke, and have players on the bench such as Cullen, Conlon, Atkinson and Browne... We're sloppy at times and gift teams goals too much, but we're slowly becoming a bloody good side ourselves under Askey.

Well said, Tyler.

Great effort today against a good team.

Two super goals and a clean sheet to boot.

I suspect they'll go up but on our day we are more than capable of matching anyone. If we can get Oyeleke back and another new player in January we'll be cooking.

What a difference 12 months makes.

Absolutely brilliant today!

watching Pope bully Grant all afternoon was sheer bliss!

Shows that we play well against team who come to play due to the space created.

Burgess was brilliant today... I hope those that called him a Macc reject feel as stupid as they look.

Askey is building a squad capable of beating anyone... find the key to unlocking teams that sit back against us and we would be flying!

UTV!!

We've had bad refs and he joins the club. The booking of Leon then pulling the game back for the supposed head injury when we were 4 on 2 were shockers.

Can someone explain why Leon was booked?  It was a 50/50 block tackle where both players played the ball which is why it screwed up in the air.  Ref didn't blow.  Game carried on.  Three or four passes were made then their lad realised his mate was on the deck and kicked the ball out.  Physio came on.  Lad carried off on stretcher.  Game restarted not with a free kick but with a Vale throw in.  So why was Leon booked for not committing a foul????

Great performance.  Smithy MOTM for me.

I was just wondering where the poster who compared our running points to last season had disappeared to.

I’m here!!! Well I’m not as I’m at a wedding, but celebrating both!
Brilliant result today, makes Mansfield, Orient, Salford and ... even more frustrating, don’t you think?? Should be comfortably top 7 IMHO
