Labour leadership

I was looking today at the way the majority of labour had gone down in Hartlepool every single election since 1997. I can't do a picture but it was very startleing. Makes me think that it is not just Jeremy Corbyn or Brexit that is to blame for the red wall falling down at the general election.

Thatcher haters and those who wouldn't forgive for closing the mines are either dead or disabled enough to be unable to go out and vote.

Retrospectively those who haven't been literally worked to death have realised that they wouldn't want their children and grandchildren crippled in years to come by having little choice but to work in mineshafts 4ft6 in height for their entire adult lives. Thatcher closing the mines was the best thing she ever did. Disgusting places to work.

So what pit did you work at

Hartlepool has had a lot of money spent on it and has become a nicer place. When standards of living improve voters start to move away from Labour and their self pity.

What a load of bull you spout you are talking absolut C**P.....Obviously never been down a coal mine, and haven’t got a clue what you are talking about. You are describing mines from the Victorian era, not the 1990s. Any miner I know would return to a job down the pit in a heartbeat. Miners were grafters, salt of the earth, and I was proud to have been one. So don’t talk through your ar5e about something you know nothing about.

JC made many people feel they had representation in parliament and in the labour party. Many of these people didn't vote before or stopped voting. This shouldn't be ignored.

I'd never vote for Ruth Smeeth if my life dependend on it, glad she's on her arse. I also would rather stab myself in the eye than vote Tory (which ironically is what most people are doing to themselves by voting this way anyway).

I'll continue to vote the way I do, and still feel sad that JC wasn't able to become PM. He was the first politician who's policies I admired that had a chance of being PM in my lifetime. I hope there will be more to come.

He never had a chance of becoming PM!  As the general election result has overwhelmingly proven--the UK population is generally very sensible and on the whole, conservative with a small 'c' and will never go for extreme parties whether right wing or left wing--history shows that to be so obviously true.

P.S I feel sorry for both Ruth Smeeth and Gareth Snell both of whom appeared to be half decent constituency MPs but who got caught up in Jezza's despised  and failed experiment in socialism!

Doubt it, considering a summary of the majority of your posts.  But if you want to play it coquettishly that's up to you sweetheart!

You’re talking to someone who has voted for three different parties in the last four elections so I’ll say again, you’re making incorrect assumptions, darling.

Exactly. I decided in the end that all the three main party leaders were rubbish so I voted for my sitting MP on the basis that he was a good bloke and his re-election would make no difference to the numbers in the House of Commons.

But had your vote given him a win, it would have changed the numbers in parliament--Boris would then have had a majority of a mere 78! Up the Vale, 3 points tomorrow and we'll all be happy!
