Underwhelming but probably decent cover for Gibbo's inevitable upcoming suspension.

I remember you not being a fan of his... can’t think why but that’s opinions I guess.

Vast majority wanted him to stay and he was a good player. Good addition in my eyes.

Only really a fan of the loan market if the loan players are better than those already at the club (Jake Taylor, Sam Togwell 2 examples of loan players I liked). I didn't believe he was better than Gibbons at the time (I know Gibbons had some "time off") and, unless he's improved, I still don't believe he's better than him. All opinions though like you say and it won't stop me supporting him on a Saturday afternoon if he gets a chance.

Vast majority thought Steve Thompson and Achille Campion were any good though... 😉

Glad to see him back, as he does offer a reasonable level of cover for both FB positions. However, I couldn't help reminding myself what his agent said back then:

However, agent Lee Marsh, who represents the player says that there has been interest from clubs in higher divisions and he will take him “on to bigger and better things than what he’s doing at Port Vale.”

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, March said: “I took him to Port Vale and he’s done very well in an ugly standard of football. I’m adamant that I’m going to try and get him the career I think he deserves.”

“Dean didn’t see him playing for a club in the top six of the Championship at this time and I respect his views.

I believe that I can take him on to bigger and better things than what he’s doing at Port Vale.

“At this moment in time I’ve got a big interest from a Premier League club and two German clubs. He won’t be signing for them if it’s under-23 based, I can tell you that.

“There’s Championship clubs and that would be appealing as well because it’s a stepping stone.

“You’ve got to move on in life sometimes and this is his opportunity.”

Opens up more options in the squad. Allows Montano to play further forward and Worrall in the midfield 3 where he was outstanding earlier in the season for me.

I'd happily leave Monty at FB. He's underwhelmed, largely, when he's played further forward

Clark is a good player but Montano and Gibbons will take a lot of shifting. Can't imagine him signing not to play but can't see where he fits in.

Cover for suspensions, injuries, maybe change of formation in the battle for promotion? Let us hope it does not mean someone is leaving.

I got the impression last season that Askey prefers Clark to Gibbons, so I wouldn't be surprised when Gibbons gets a 2 match ban that he won't get back in afterwards.

Can also see Crookes being back in at left-back as soon as he's match-fit.

Hope I'm wrong on both counts.
